Good but old ways
Good book for layout ideas but it was for Atlas. It was my mistake because I use Maerklin instead of Atlas...It will be good if we can have in iPad or iPhone use.

Worth buying if you want 'buy lists' with your layout plans
There are a number of very interesting layouts. 'Buy Lists' are provided giving sectional track/turnouts and various DC NOT DCC hardware needs. Considerable DC 'how to' narrative given with one layout directing the reader to the Atlas website for DCC wiring instructions. That alone I suppose makes this book honestly the revised edition as claimed. Would have given 5 stars had the narrative been updated W-DCC instruction in place of many useless DC instructional pages. Great if you want old school DC info. All this said-I would still buy this 3 star book again because of the layout plans and the info about curve radii and turnouts needed for the layouts. Most plans like those from Model Railroader magazine leave you to figure out all of your materials to buy from the conceptual drawings.

Designs for small/odd shaped spaces.
This book has many plans for layouts. My grandson has a small area for his train layout and we were looking for ideas to help plan a most sufficient area. This book allowed us to design one that would work in his small space, plus gave ideas for future expansions.

Good Investment for Novice Model RR Hobbyist
Good variety of layouts with all the materials needed (Atlas only) clearly spelled out along with product numbers so there's no mistakes. Also has some excellent beginner info on wiring and how to plan your own layouts. Well worth the few bucks, especially for the novice model RR hobbyist.
