OLD WORK BOX Lamson B120R Carlon PVC Outlet Box, Blue

This Lamson B120R PVC old work outlet box worked perfectly for our installation of a Lutron dimmer switch for a track light we installed. The fit and function all worked well.One reviewer here stated that the screws aren't long enough to accommodate double-thick drywall. The box we received had no problem with this. In our installation, the wall this box was installed on had 1/2" drywall that was installed over another 1/2" sheet. This was done by the previous owner because there was a large hole in the drywall. Rather than repair the hole, when they renovated the room, they just installed another 1/2" sheet over the wall with the hole. So this Lamson outlet box was installed on a wall with 1" of drywall. We had absolutely no problem installing the box. The screws were long enough and the back mounting arms grabbed onto the drywall perfectly producing a nice, secure installation that looked clean and professional.Everything else works well with this box. All screw holes are set properly and we had no problems with box alignment or Romex punch outs.

I was about to add and outside outlet to the front of my house.Its and older ranch built in the 60's.I've done work on the house before so I kind of knew what to expect but wasn't quite sure which box would be the best so before it cut in the wall I ordered 3 types. a 90 degree nail, 45 degree screw, and this one with the flip up tabs.Once I cut in the wall I hit 3/8" plywood sheathing so it turned out that the flip-tab box would be the easiest and still be sturdy.Installing this type of box was the easy part of this job...

These are great when adding a new electrical outlet in the home. They’re surprisingly sturdy.

Used to replace a poorly fitted new work box. Hacksawed off the old one and replaced it with this one. Mission complete. It could be even better with 4 wings or a larger lip but certainly good enough to do the job if the opening isn't too big.

It is designed to fit in areas where the drywall is already present. I used the facing to outline the hole I needed to cut, used a drywall saw to cut the hole, slipped this in after running the wiring, tightened the screws and it is a solid outlet that handles anything being plugged into it.

Does what it needs to. Installed easily. I traced the outline onto my wall (just the straight sides, skipping the screw tabs). Then I used a knife and a small hand-held saw blade to cut through my drywall. A steak knife might even work. Then I fed my wires though and tightened the two screws to cramp it to the drywall.

HomeDirect.eStore advertised a price of $2.89 with the confusing breakdown of 24 cents per piece. My credit card was only charged $1.72. I got exactly what I needed when it was promised but it confused the heck out of me that it was packaged, labeled and shipped by Lowe's customer service center in Norcross, Georgia.

I am using this to add an electrical outlet. I can install it in any void in the wall. Since the walls are finished I can't use the boxes that nail into the studs. I nocked out the nockout before installing since these are not as rugged as the stud kind. I fished the wire then ran it through the knowout before installing the box. I stripped the outside insulation about 10 inches so I would have plenty of wire to work with. I am a novice. Worked good, tested OK, and looks professional.

Great box used it to run a new outlet in the basement. Grabs the drywall well and holds tight. Cover plate sits perfectly flush against the wall, seamless install very happy with the product.

I have found them in local hardware stores for less money, so keep an eye out. But as far as the product, they installed very easily, and are sturdy once in place.

Exactly what I was looking for. Wanted to install a 4 port usb plug. Only problem was the 6 internal support ribs (3 on each end) interfered with the plug. Would not fit the box. Nothing a little customizing with an exact knife couldn't fix. Other than that it is installed and works fine. Drywall gripper arms worked as expected. This is also heavier duty construction compared with others I have used in the past.

I prefer these boxes over the metal old work boxes.These PVC Outlet boxes have much more room than the standard metal boxes. The extra room is very useful especially when using Smart Light switches and plugs.The hole cutout is a basic rectangular however you need to be careful not to cut too much off the top or bottom. There are two tabs on the top and bottom which hold the box in place along with two clamps. Ideally it would be more sturdy to have four clamps for better support.If you find the box is not secure enough with just the two clamps holding, add a small drop or bead of silicone or construction adhesive to the tabs on the box ... it works great!I don't know why they don't sell these boxes in my local hardware stores but I'm glad I found them here on Amazon.
