Q: is the bolt thin enough to fit a trailer hitch pin?

The bolt of this 4-digit combination lock is 0.23in which should fit the trailer hitch pin. :) Besides, the inside size of the long shackle is 2.2in, you may also check if it fits the width.

Q: My combination is not working, help?

I just recently struggled to use mine, but figured out that it will not lock while the combination code is in the unlock position. When unlocked, you must insert into the lock, change the combo pattern, and then it should remain locked.

Q: Are the digits really larger (I can't see well) than other major brands of resettable combination locks?

No. The digits are not very large.
