Works great
Simple but works wonderful!

Nothing fancy, but it works.
This tool is needed to replace the cartridge (or stem) of some but not all Moen 2-handle faucets. According to the Moen website, it is needed for the 8" spread faucets to remove a cartridge retainer nut. I tried several other tools to remove the nut, but none worked. Ordered the #14272 tool on Amazon for $5 and free shipping. It is a 1/16" thick x 4" length of steel rolled into 7/8" OS diameter tube with two tabs on one end that fit into notches of the retainer nut. It is well made, does not flex, and has no sharp burs. It worked just as it should and removed the retainer nut and tightened the nut after the cartridge was replaced.Several reviewers rated the tool poorly because the plastic retainer nut broke; this was poor design of the retainer nut, not the tool. The tool is much more robust than the retainer nut. I give the tool 5 stars not because it is fancy or something I can't live without, but because it functions as it should and is reasonably priced.

Works perfect, but it's a tool you hope you never need
My house is 20 years old and it was built originally with all Moen hardware. I had one shower that started to leak and needed to replace the cartridge in it. I tore it apart and tried to remove the old one without this tool (channel locks didn't work) and failed. I bought this and it worked really well. Now I have this in my tool box and may never need it again. That said it's built great and works perfectly. If you need one this one will work but I hope you don't ever need one.

Didn't work for me
Unfortunately my plastic gasket was already stripped out even though it had never been removed to replace the cartridge before. This tool didn't work and I had to get a whole new faucet assembly from Moen. I kept it in case I need to change this type of cartridge in the future but this faucet design has flaws compared to the older style faucets and cartridges by Moen. Not this products fault.

Don't Waste Time - Buy This Tool
A must have tool if your cartridge ring does not remove very easily. Ring is made of soft plastic and is easily damaged if you try to use pliers to remove. This tool makes the job so easy without damaging the ring. I wasted several hours trying to remove the ring with various pliers and almost ruined it. I was afraid I had damaged the ring and the tool would not work, but it did!Super fast shipping and it arrived a day early!
