I loved it, for about 6 months, then it locked and wouldn’t unlock again. I had to break into my own fire box. Lucky for me at that time, It was rather easy to break into.

We unfortunately have a family member suffering from mental health issues and it's important that we control access to medications and sharp things (like kitchen knives). This box is ideal for that; the keypad is far more convenient to use than a physical key, and the entire thing it fits within a large kitchen drawer. We have been opening it multiple times a day for the past year and it works just as it did on day 1. If you are in the unfortunate situation of needing to maintain a "safe house" protocol, this product is really ideal. It's sturdy enough that you won't be able to get it open without tools that (if you are in this situation) you should be restricting access to. It's large enough to hold any but the longest carving knives (normal chef's knife and bread knife are fine), or to hold a healthy number of prescription medications and "week at a time" pill dispensers.

The Honeywell Hideable Small Safe Box is perfect for keeping important documents and valuables secure. Its compact size makes it easy to stash in a closet or under a bed, but it’s heavy-duty enough to feel solid and reliable. The fire-resistant design gives me peace of mind knowing my essentials are protected in case of an emergency. The locking mechanism is smooth, and the interior has just enough room for passports, cash, and other small items. If you’re looking for a safe that’s discreet and dependable, this one’s a great investment!

Pros: -Fits 8 1/2 x 11 pages just fine, even if in a folder or envelope. You can fit a huge stack! Like around 4", no problem. -Lightweight -Price for value -I like having the keys, just in case -Love that it has a handle Not so pros: -It says double wall construction, but the lid is an exclusion -Thought I read it was "waterproof" but there is no seal around the lid. You could add a seal to keep moisture out, but unless it's something that is fire rated it would just melt under heat. -Battery compartment cover is cheap. If it falls off (battery compartment is under lid so gravity works on it when lid is shut) then you'll need the emergency keys. -Only five digits on keypad so you'll have to create a code that likely isn't something easy to remember. This will force some folks into using a pattern, which is less secure. -Definitely easy to break into, but I only want to make it discouraging or time consuming before it is compromised. If you're serious about securing your valuables it might be better to use this box as a cheap decoy that you make visible in the house, then put your actual valuables under your mattress or in your sock drawer. :)

The locking mechanism (specifically the knob) began malfunctioning within two years of purchasing. The code would respond when entered correctly but the knob would not turn past the point needed to actually unlock the safe. When the knob was turned with force it still did not unlock and rendered the key ineffective also. We had to destroy the locking mechanism to retrieve my contents, which was a little too easy to do given the purpose of the safe. Not recommending this product for others.

This is a well made unit. Having a key lock and a digital lock makes it handy. There is enough room for many documents. It should hold up well in a fire. Well worth the price.

Needed a small little box to put things in while they are in a "holding pattern" before getting to the safety deposit box. it's not 'fireproof' but is resistant and I believe will serve the purpose I need it for. Really easy to set up, the instructions were clear. It is smaller than I was hoping for, but had to buy what was in the budget. One of these days I'll upgrade! LOL

Works to keep things secure, can be easily broken into but good for people in apartments and other places. Simple and cheap

Love this portable safe because it’s compact but yet it can fit in a reasonable amount of jewelry and gold in their boxes. The thing that i would love for this product to have is more range of numbers for the security pin access. It only have numbers of 1 to 5.

Despite the negative review, I find the good design and size safe and ease of lock access experience. I was expecting the metal handle as shown in picture but it surprises me that it is Plastic handle. It will be great if plastic handle replaced with metal. PROS: Good Design & Size CONS: Plastic Handle
