Good For "Mission Critical" Indoor Power Monitoring Applications
I live in the subarctic. My home water situation is "different" from most places on earth. I have a water tank buried in the ground and a pump that draws water to supply my home. As you might imagine, that pump is absolutely mission critical to my home's operation. Put simply, I wasn't going to trust it with a cheap $10 WiFi plug. The typical draw is approximately 800 watts, with even higher startup peaks. I use Home Assistant for my home automation platform. Using Z-Wave JS, this switch enumerates on/off status with switch control, amp draw, voltage level, watt draw, KwH usage and ping. Most important to me, this unit can be configured to remember "last state" or be "always on" - meaning, it will always return to on state for my application. Also important, this device can be monitored for "alive" and "dead" status, which I can then alert on. In my application, I actually use two methods for this assessment - a UPS battery status over WiFi and this switch - both of which tell me whether the pump has power. Interestingly enough, I wasn't really interested in turning my pump on and off with this device, almost ever. We've burned through a few expensive tanks of water due to leaks and faucets left open, though. I really wanted power draw because it allows some interesting analysis. I can now measure and alert on "abnormal" power usage, which can indicate higher or lesser than normal operations. (Such as "pump running when we aren't home.") Though I haven't actually done this yet in my automation, I can kill power to the home water pump in the event abnormal usage is detected. For now, I'm using alerting & manual switching based on alerting and that's probably good enough for me. For me, the return on investment will be the prevention of just one of those events. It took me a little bit to figure out how to do the analysis in Home Assistant, but I think I figured it out. Essentially, I'm taking power draw for the previous 15 minute increment, determining if that exceeds a "known normal value" and send an emergency level alert to my phone if that event occurs. Sure, it triggers sometimes when we take a long shower or water the garden, but we know about these things and I want it sensitive enough to detect even a slow leak. I also have a secondary alert that tells me if the pump is active at all while we're away, which really shouldn't ever happen. I gave some serious thought about getting into "water monitoring" side as an alternative to my application. When I looked at general cost, managing water is much more expensive than monitoring electricity. It was kind of a "stroke of genius" when I realized that monitoring my pump electrically could get me there just as easily. So, that's a win for this platform in my opinion. So far, this product got me where I wanted to be, has been reliable and seems to handle a serious electrical load without issue. If anything changes, I'll be sure to update this review. While it's on the "more expensive" side of energy monitoring and switching these days, I'm usually willing to pay a bit more for the highly reliable Z-Wave technology and a quality product. I'm thinking about getting a few more to monitor my furnace and a few other important applications, so that's about as good of a recommendation as I can give. Edit: I've used same device in a few more applications now, still love it. I use them on my furnace and fridge, both mission critical applications. (It took some serious trust building to put one on my furnace!) I also use them in my shop. This unit is the only one I've found that deals well with large startup (inrush) current. Things like shop-vac's and my compressor would "pop" other devices I tried, but not this one!

Delivers on promised features
I got this switch to use with my SmartThings hub and it works great. Setup was easy, have the app search for a new device and connect the switch to power, the app recognizes it and you are ready to use as you see fit. On SmartThing you can use it to trigger Routines based on Watts being used and can turn devices connected ON and OFF. I used it during summer to control my window AC based on some smart thermostats in the house, so it can deal with high wattage. I have been recently using it as a glorified Kill-a-watt device to keep track of power consumption at my desk because I plan to create routines based on what I have running and need to get a baseline. The device has a physical button that can be used should there be a connection problem with the SmartThings hub, but I have never needed to use it. The switch is quick to respond to routines and buttons programmed to control it. If you need to control or monitor something with high wattage this is a great switch/power monitor. I will be looking for this should I come up with more uses/need for another one. BWT I have never needed help getting anything to work, that's why there is no rating for their Tech Supprt.

Really solid and useful
I purchased this switch after very positive experience with using Zooz in-wall zwave dimmer switches in my home (these, by the way, are unique and amazing products that don't require costly 3- and 4-way relay switches.) Zooz is an unsung hero amongst zwave devices - they deliver amazing quality at price points that outshine everyone. This switch is no exception - it just works, and well! My primary use case for it is for a space heater in my mother-in-law's room - instead of wasting energy and risking safety using it unnecessarily, I now have it on a scheduled use pattern that keeps her room warm and safe. We can also check on the switch's status, another addition to peace of mind. I use a SmartThings hub (prior generation) with the latest firmware with about 6 other zwave devices in our home (3 dimmers, 2 deadbolt locks, and this switch) and this has been a flawless setup thus far. In addition to the programmability of on/off states, a stellar feature of this switch is that it provides consumption data back to SmartThings with no extra configuration. This is great for auditing energy use, and essentially turns this switch into a "Kill-A-Watt" type of device in addition to its primary function! Solid, heavy-duty construction. A keeper for sure.

Rugged wave switch
The replaces a ge outdoor switch that I keep next to the battery, under the hood of my F250 plow truck. I plug in one short electric cord hanging out of the hood. Under the hood a trickle charger maintains the battery and this zwave swtch feeds the block heater. The last switch actually melted after a few years of use. I plugged it back in and it wouldn't switch off. When I opened the hood to check, it was smoking and melted near the exit plug. That could have gone really bad. This unit has a setting that tells it what to do when power is restored. That would be ideal for my use, since I try to start the truck before the block heater turns off, so it gets unplugged while on. After plowing it gets parked until the next storm. I'm in the habit of checking it whenever I plug it in. So far I have not observed it off when the power is restored. Since that power restore check actually saved me with the ge switch, I'm not as excited to automate that check away. If I do resolve it, I will add a HomeAssistant alarm to catch a long on state. As it should only be on for 2h before an existing automation turns it off. A few months of winter and half a dozen uses later, everything is working well.

I use it with homeseer 3, relay, not solid state
Works like a it should. Included on the first try. Reports everything that it should report. In homeseer 3 every settIng has a menu entry you name. No parameter numbers are required to change the behavior. I actually like the better as the aeontech switches. They are a little smaller and just work. Would be cool if they would come out with a dimmer in the same fashion. I use it to switch a POE switch for some cameras that pull about 12 to 22 watts together. So far no issues. I can hear a relay switch when the state is changed so the switch is an actual relay and not a solid state relay. I was expecting to be a solid state version since they claim it can handle bigger loads like motors. A relay most likely will burn the contacts eventually if switched frequently enough. Not a big concern if only switches every so often and not frequently a few times a minute. I like them a lot and will by almost likely buy more for around the house. I plan on out one on the fridge in the kitchen to monitor the on/off cycle to determine when it is time to clean the heat exchanger. One reviewer wrote that it doesn’t detect a tripped circuit. That is true and to understand when you know that the switch needs electricity to report back to the controller. No electricity — no reporting. What the switch can do is reporting the amperage and therefore if a device is on or off like in case with the fridge. A total loss of power can’t be reported. What you can also do is to have the voltage reported and you could track how stable your house hook up is running. In terms of voltage swings Perhaps I try one day to see how low the voltage can drop before the switch stops working / reporting.

So Angry
The Zooz plug is great. It pairs easily with the Aeotec Hub Samsung *sold* me by telling me that the hub I'd had dozens of devices working off of for 5 years would be going dark this month. Hurry hurry. First WeMo - (but at least the devices still work, even if they don't connect to wifi anymore); now this. Fine. I've swapped hubs before (hey, Hue, how's it goin'?). NBD. Except, with the Smartthings, you have to remove and repair all of your Z-wave/Zigbee devices. You can't even assign them one at a time to the new hub. And here's the kicker: I could not get my old hub to exclude them - not using the instructions, not using any of the internet guides for what to do when the instructions don't work, I ended up at the end of the line where the last option is to remove the hub, devices and all, and manually reset all of them. And I was far from alone in this. But this left me with 8 Aeotec energy monitoring appliance smart plugs and one power strip that needed to be reset. No biggie, right? It's an Aeotec hub. Should be cake. Nope. They're all about 5 years old, but they've all been discontinued and are nowhere to be found on the company's website. Nowhere to be found in the SmartThings app. They were working just fine with the old hub. Now, they're lying there limp. Still useful as pigtails to connect bulky plugs to a power strip. Now, these things were >$50 each. The only reason I did not phase out the Smartthings when the hub issue came up was the money invested in these monitoring plugs. Boy, do I feel silly now. So, I looked through the app and found that Zooz makes a similar product. You can't use just any monitoring plug for an AC. It has to be able to withstand sustained power draws without heating up, and the cord has to be heavy gauge. This is all that at about half what I paid for the dead soldiers. I love you, Zooz plugs.

Awesome!! I love it
I set this up under our kitchen sink as a power switch for the garbage disposal, and it works great. With a SmartThings push button, I created a routine that runs the disposal for 3 seconds when pressed, then shuts it off. You can also configure it as a simple on/off toggle with each press. The plug easily handles the 1/2 HP motor, and testing shows it works perfectly. Since we repurposed the old countertop hole (where the GD pressure switch was) for our RO faucet, this setup lets us control the disposal with a Wi-Fi switch instead.

Yale Assure 2 Savior
So I had two issues. I wanted to setup and automation to monitor my washer that would notify when the washer was done. My wife gets distracted and loads get left in for way too long. I bought this to solve that as it was the immediate issue and best value for a heavy duty plug that could take higher amperage loads. My second issue is I had decided to use a z-wave Yale Assure 2 lock. I liked the looks, had a August lock already so I knew the app but wasn't enamored by their keypad. Why not... the darn thing has the weakest radio though. I could not pair it on a far door. I brought it by the hub to pair, but installed in the door it would not connect. I bought 2 other plugs to help beef up my z-wave mesh network. Those didn't work. This plug absolutely did the job though. It paired to my zwave network in seconds and go into my home assistant instance... surprise! My Yale lock is now active and not a dead node! I like the 45 degree and flat plug end. Handles the higher loads. Paired easily and evidently is also a powerful repeater. I'm super happy with this plug.

Work with Hubitat Home Automation server
Work perfectly with my Hubitat.com Home Automation server. Report, current (Amp), Volts, Power (Watts). And it can work with my water pump. Wemo Switch where not able to support my water pump when it start but this ZEN 15 is perfect. I have 3 ZEN 15 now and i will buy it again in the futur.
