The Complete LEGO Minifigure Catalog 1975-2015

Currently the best on the market, but not perfect.
The LEGO Group has made so many minifigs that it is hard to catalog them all. I give this book 5 stars for the sheer number that they have documented. It is the ONLY book that I have been able to find that comes even close to being comprehensive. The book's layout is useful and while not the most intuitive is still easily learned. The head reference at the back of the book is the main reason that I bought this book. It does have several shortfalls, however. First, they are listed by their BrickLink item number. That would be great, but I don't know many people who have those numbers memorized. The result is that if you are searching for a specific head, there is no rhyme or reason to their images. It would have been much more helpful, if not entirely logical, to lay them out in color groupings, all yellow, all black, all flesh tone, and then by the number of sides the head has. As it currently is, it is a complete hodgepodge that you have to comb through page by page to find a specific one. The other limitation is it's very lack of completeness. The author says the book contains all figures released up until 2015 (that came in sets), but the head reference does not. There are no Legonds of Chima heads, no Ninjago heads, and a number of the collectible figure's heads are not there either. A very rough count comes up with 720+/- in the book. The BrickLink reference catalog shows me over 1800 minifig heads WITHOUT including minidolls. I would say that is far from complete.

Great book, highly recommended but...
This is a must have for any Lego minifigures collector since it covers 40 years worth of minifigures. There are over 6,500 full color pictures throughout the book. The book is arranged by theme so all the ninjago figures are together, all the star wars figures are together, etc. The years are shown for each figure so you know when they were released which is nice. One thing we really liked is in the back of the book it shows individual heads and what figure they came with and the page number to see it.My complaints are: many minifigures have helmets on so the face is not shown. This made me have to Google the minifigure to find out what head/face needed to be used. A picture of the back of the figure would also have been nice. The book doesn't show the accessories for many of the figures. Again, a Google search was required. Although the accessories are shown for the minifigure collections through series 14. It also would have been nice to know what Lego set the minifigures originally came in.All-in-all an excellent reference and should be the first one purchased by anybody that plans on collecting minifigures. I hope to see expanded editions in the future.

The catalog itself is nice, but the book binding/quality is poor.
I wouldn't recommend this book to a friend. The idea is great, but the book itself feels cheap and poorly constructed. The paper feels like copy paper and many of the images are dark and blurry. The seams on the cover are crooked and bumpy. It just doesn't feel like a $60 book. Amazon needs to protect these heavy books during shipping, too. I had other products with the same order, and they were actually inside the pages of the book. Absolutely no protection at all! They used to put books on a cardboard backing with cellophane wrapping. I guess they don't have time for that now...

Great book, backwards cover :)
Love the book. Only thing is the cover was on backwards.

Nicely arranged for catagorizing Figures
My son has a huge collection, and when he is ready to sell, we'll be able to use and identify and price them through this guidebook. This book has large photos and a nice organization to it.

This is a good book to use as reference
This is a good book to use as reference. Although it needs a better index to find individual pieces. I spend a lot of time flipping pages to locate the figures I am trying to identify. The figures also are not shown with accessories they came with.
