Whole Brain Living: The Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive Our Life

well this explains everything!
I'm so glad I found this book. To understand the nature of our brain's different voices from someone who has experienced in her own body the way our consciousness is structured is an amazing revelation. It goes a long way to understanding the contradictory ways we often behave, and the different levels we operate on.

Fascinating!
I love this book, it makes so much sense and has helped me understand myself - and others - on a much deeper level. Highly recommended.

Montone voice
Content and information very interesting but sadly the authors monotone reading minimises the listening tolerance to short periods.

Great book
A different approach to parts work which maps across from IFS and other models.I really enjoyed this book as it builds on the mindfulness, unblending, and the ideas of Anthony de Mello around awareness.

Some insights, a LOT of gibberish / nonsense
I cannot really believe this book was written by a neuro scientist. The scientific component is utterly negligible and cursory, and very bold statements are made with no attempt to back them with empirical evidence. There is a lot cutesy stuff, like giving each of our brain characters a nickname. All sorts of sweeping statements are made, notably about part of the brain’s connection to the universe, the cosmos etc. There are some helpful insights here, buried in a complete mish mash and dog’s dinner of a thesis.

Some interesting insights but seems incomplete
I liked the book intially, but at the part where she says that the front right brain is responsible for building the foetus, depite the fact that other animals including reptiles manage to form themselves without a front right brain, I found it a bit far fetched and gave up.I didn't like how Myers Briggs was critisised at the beginning of the book as it showed a lack on understanding and I feel the author could gain a lot of insight into how the brain works from reading the book "Gifts Differing" by Isabel Briggs Myers. What she describes as the number 1 brain fits with the Myers Briggs description of the thinking brain, the number 2 brain the feeling brain, number 3 being the sensing brain, and number 4 the intuitive brain. For me the most useful aspect of Whole Brain Living, was that it helped me better understand Gifts Differing.Myers Briggs is based on Jungs typeology and I believe she would have had better results and found a neater fit by exploring this that than Jung's archtypes.

Well intended but I found it a bit dull
I guess it's a matter of personal preference. I am absolutely certain that the author has the best intentions. However, I found that there was something oversimplified about this book. It felt somehow dumbed down and was a tedious reading, and not wanting to fool myself, I returned it. However, as I said, these things are a matter of personal intuition.

Great way to understand our brain
I really enjoyed this book in terms of it's approach to acquainting me with the characters of my brain. This approach makes accessible what can easily feel intangible, and it gives us a way to work with our natural selves.

Lifechanging
A completely new way, scientifically backed of looking at life and spirituality. It blows my mind to understand my brain so much better now and I feel it's a huge help to now understand what I'm doing when I meditate and how I connect with the infinite wisdom of the universe.I'm truly grateful for this book and I want to thank Jill Bolte Taylor for her insight and sharing. Thank you

Very interesting insights
I found the four characters and the brain huddle really interesting and useful information, with potential for practical implementation on my daily life. However, the second half of the book was disjointed and did not offer much.
