I am a new denture wearer and was struggling with the moving all the time. I did my research on this type of product. I was told by some that the Fixodent's and Poligrip's were horrible. Plus, I have a very sensitive mouth. I found this one and liked what people were saying. The only thing that made me nervous was the the alcohol. The directions were easily followed, and they did say that you could wait a few minutes to let the alcohol dissipate before putting them in, that is what I do. I use the sensitive one and if I wait the few minutes, I don't get any burn at all. If I don't wait, I get I sometimes get a very tiny tingly feeling. It doesn't burn or hurt, and it goes away quickly. I do have a hard time figuring out the correct amount to use. Some days I get it right some days not. No matter if I put too little or too much, they always stay in place, it only affects the length of time they don't move and how much. The other thing as well is if you aren't leaving your dentures in a good 10-12 hrs, you will have goop left on your gums. You may have some anyways, but more if you don't leave them in long enough. In the directions it does say you can use vegetable oil to get it off. I have done this and it works great. I put it on a piece of paper towel and gently rub where it is and it comes off easily. All in all this glue is easy to use, easy to get off and works really great. It is also good for sensitive mouths. I definitely recommend this. Review: Best I have found - So much better than other products. Minimal tingling which resolved when I let the product air out after spreading on my denture. Taste is acceptable. If you don’t let it air for a few minutes there is a very minor “pool float” scent. The only thing that holds my temporary lower dentures. They can now handle light chewing and they stay with normal talking and sipping. Heavy chewing meals will still dislodge the lowers. Small amount on uppers stay great for me. This will build up on your dentures though, which can only be removed with the secure denture tabs. I used the adhesive x 2 weeks and had a buildup despite scrubbing, soaking and scraping. The upper stays secure (even through eating and drinking) for the 12 hours the company claims. Stability in the lower I think depends on what percentage of bone you have left. I don't have a lot and the denture starts detaching after roughly 4-5 hours after applying Secure. I don't fault the product for that. :)That being said, I've decided this is really the best adhesive on the market for lower dentures. Even if I have to reapply the adhesive for the lower a couple of times a day, I have found I can eat pretty much anything I want if I reapply an hour before eating dinner. I think people with more bone in the lower ridge will have better success. One other thing - a little of this product goes a long way...there's a definite art to applying just the right amount of adhesive for maximum hold...too little and the adhesive gives out, too much and the adhesive gives out AND you end up with a mouth full of goop. I would suggest you do what I did - order a tube and experiment. Unless I'm alerted to a new and better product down the road, this is what I'll be using going forward. **Q: Does this Secure ooze out like the rest of the products do? Having a real hard time here. :(** A: Yes, after 3 years of using secure denture cream I finally realized how to keep it from ooze so bad. Put it on your dentures and let it sit on there for a few minutes (it expands) I left mine out for few minutes came back and it looked to be 2x what I had applied, I had a bad ooze problem, but not anymore. Guess better late than never. It is a wonderful product. With other products I was reapplying 3 or 4 times a day and with secure I apply it ever 24 hours. **Q: how do you remove assess adhesive from detures?** A: If I'm adding adhesive during the day, I remove the old paste with a special toothbrush made just for dentures before adding new paste. If I'm taking them out for the night then I remove most of it and place the denture in the soaking container. Hint: I find that a good antiseptic mouthwash does as a great job in cleaning and is cheaper than Efferdent or Polident. It holds just as well as the regular Secure, but the big difference is it doesn’t sting or burn when you put it on. It says 12‑hour hold, and for me that depends — if I don’t eat anything, it lasts a lot longer, and there are certain foods I can eat where everything stays put. But sometimes the thing I think will be the safest ends up being the thing that makes them pop loose. Even with that, this is still one of the most reliable adhesives I’ve found, and the comfort makes it even better.
