There is one and both disc and stem are metal.

Will it make frappes?

Can you make an ice cream soda? My local ice cream parlor used fountain soda water, 2-3 squirts if cream, 2-3 squirts of chocolate syrup, mixed well and add a scoop of ice cream

Not really sure because we gave it as a gift - BUT... We bought it for our grown up kids & the horsepower is not as good as the 'professional' one we have had for over twenty years (also Hamilton Beach) Things just aren't made as well as they use to be...
