Good balance between protection and size
Update 8/26/23 - downgraded to 3 stars, which might be generous. I had a slow-motion fall, basically just fell sideways, when I had to swerve and brake to avoid colliding with a motorcycle. I don't know whether it was that the guard slipped, or the impact on the side of my elbow was above the protective padding, but a relatively gentle fall (on asphalt, admittedly) left me with a gash and a big bruise. Going back to my G Form pads with thicker padding covering a larger area.As an older rider of an ebike, I wear protective armor for my knees, elbows and hips. I rode a motorcycle for decades, and I've learned a lot about armor as the technology has evolved. This elbow armor is a high quality visccoelastic version that offers a good combination of comfort and protection. Upper arm circumference around 12 inches relaxed put me in the medium size, and it is a snug fit, but armor is supposed to be snug. I don't like the feeling of silicone grip surfaces on my skin, so I put them over a base layer in cool weather and sun sleeves in warm weather. The upper arm strap has to be cinched really tight to keep it in place over a fabric layer, but it isn't really necessary, since the forearm strap is enough to hold the armor in place without that dreaded bicep pump. The armor coverage isn't as extensive as my G form sleeves, but is enough to make a big difference in a crash, and these stay in place better than the sleeve armor. Of course it's a bit more warm and constricting than I would prefer, but the protection is worth the discomfort.

Order one size larger...seriously!
I went by the companies sizing chart, measured my arms as recommended, ordered a medium because my measurements put me at the low end of the medium on the size chart. I had a very hard time getting them on and i seriously thought i was going to have to cut them off to get them off. Sizing chart is definitely one size small.
