Longer New Upgrade RAY5 Laser Engraver Cutter,Working Area 15.75"×15.76"

I purchased the Longer Ray5 10W laser a few months ago and have had a good experience thus far. My version of the laser varied slightly from the one used in their instructions (different bolt types), however, I was still able to easily assemble the laser. This laser comes at a good price point and has continued to perform well for me and my business.

Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser, purchased 3-2023 from Amazon. I wanted to add a few lines to my review after using the Longer Ray5-10 laser. I have been having a blast with it. I can now make things I never could prior to purchasing this laser. In conjuction with Lightburn laser software it is a great asset to my shop. There is a learning curve but so much help is available on the Youtube channels. I am amazed by this machine. When I received my Longer Ray 5-10 Watt Laser, I found it well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. Assembly was easy. I purchased this Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser to help my daughter with a production laser engraving job she was working on. To accomplish this, I mounted the laser to a 3/4 in. thick hard flat compressed wood board and covered that with a 20 gauge steel plate. I made custom legs as I needed the rigidity and placed them so I could use them to align my engraving fixutre plate. I also moved the touch pad control up higher as I needed to slide my fixtrue in and out from the front. After installing lightBurn on my computer I quickly discovered that this is some great software. It was easy and intuitive to use. I was able to create her logo and engrave it on the first try. I almost couldn't believe it. I was able to adjust the power and speed easily. I am engraving on the top of a 2" diameter ABS plastic ball where the graphics are 1 1/2 inch wide. The Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser was able to do this easily. I adjusted the height on the laser modual to just clear the ball and pushed start and was pleasantly suprised to see it engraved the logo on top and down the sides of the ball witout a rotary table or a Z axis move. The precise laser beam does a great job. The ease of use of this laser and software is amazing. This is the first laser machine I owned. Before I began assembly, I had a couple of questions and Longer customer service was attentive and answered my questions in a timely manor. I was very impressed by the touch screen and its functions. I have a touch screen on my 3D printer and wanted one on my laser machine, and the Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser comes with one standard. I highly recommend this Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser. To show you how the Longer Ray5 10 Watt Laser engraves on a ball I clipped the Longer logo and imported it into Lightburn and engraved it on one of the 2 in. diameter balls. See pictures. I still have to make 2 slide in fixtures and may include those after completion. Each fixture plate will hold 36 2 in. ABS balls. I also will make an enclosure wit a vent. Dale

Had some patrolling issues, Longer was very responsive thru email. They asked for videos to help trouble shoot the issue and it was quickly resolved (to my satisfaction). The unit is working great now. Highly recommend the Longer Ray 5 10w that i purchased.

I had my husband put the engraver together for me, and I'm glad I did. The written instructions weren't fantastic, so he used the video aids. He said the guy in the video kept inadvertently covering what he was doing with his hands, which made it hard to see, but he did get it figured out. I had a bit of trouble getting started with engraving because even though I followed the directions for setting it up with LightBurn, the laser head kept trying to move out of bounds, which caused the machine to error out. I found that I had to actually manually position the laser head to my starting point and use the "frame" button in the software to make sure I was staying in bounds. I am not sure how it would work with the computer-less functionality though, and I'm not brave enough to try it. It takes a bit of playing with the settings to get a nice even burn without it being too light or too dark, but once you figure it out, it works really well and I'm really happy with the quality, especially considering this is an entry-level engraver. I very well may decide to upgrade in the future.

As a new person to laser art...I couldn't be happier with their customer service! I needed them to answer two questions over a couple of months and they responded very fast! Their even was a follow up if I needed additional guidance! The laser really is user friendly...very easy to assemble...and a thrill to see what I had accomplished!

I purchased the Longer Ray5 C with air assist and roller and cannot get the roller to function. The instructions (just 5 pages for the roller) and none with the laser. I called customer support, and they are only in China which means they are 12 hours ahead of us. The gentleman that I keep dealing with said they will email me the manuals and set up instructions, but I have not received it after 3 calls. I bought the laser to engrave custom pens, glasses etc. I'm extremely upset as this is impacting my business. The laser has great reviews and is mentioned in good regards, but I'm not seeing how. I gave it 2 stars only because they at least answer the phone but the technical aspect is appalling. Update. Customer service finally cane through and got me the software parameters I needed and got the machine working. 4 stars mostly due to the support. Still they need to clean house on their software publications, that would really be nice to have current, accurate data that could be easier to access. Update, Longer has gone way over the top to make thing right with me. They actually offered a full refund!!! I did not accept the offer but instead asked them to to send me the XY extension kit. The product works well and After the initial problem they have bent over backwards to make things right.

I had never used a laser engraver prior to purchasing this product. There are so many options to choose from it can be difficult to make a decision. I was researching many different engraveres. I happened across a few You Tube videos reviewing the Longer Ray5. Each reviewer was delighted with this engraver and gave it high marks. That persuaded me to purchase the Ray5. I have been so happy that I did. It only took a few days to receive the machine. It is very well packaged and protected for shipping. There is assembly required but it is easy. This is probably the most organized product to help you assemble it. If you need extra help There are Tou Tube videos available taking you step by step through the process. Once assembled it was time to put it to work. It comes with some materials and files so you can be using it right away. It also includes safety glasses. It is crucial that you wear them when operating the laser. Severe vision damage will occur otherwise! I recommend you use Lightburn software to operate the engraver. You can use Laser GBRL which is free but my opinion is that Lightburn is the way to go. As good as the machine has been I had a recent occasion to have contact with their Customer Service. I was surprised at how responsive they were. No joke... they were the best customer service I have ever dealt with. It makes me confident that should I ever have a problem they'll be there to help me. So what I've upgraded so far is; added a honeycomb bed, exhaust fan, air assist and cover. You don't NEED those things but there nice to have. So if you're in the market for a laser engraver I highly recommend the Longer. You won't be sorry.

Had problems with our new laser. There is not clear instructions to get it going. I had to learn most off of YouTube. The timing and consistency was still way off. So I tried to call Amazon and Longer 3d for help Amazon was good Longer 3d was horrible. First they never are able to accept a call then you leave a message they call back and send email about engraving when my problem at that point was cutting shapes for mother day crafts. So I kept trying research online. Finally longer 3d emails me back acts like they will help and kept sending me messages about cleaning the window on laser head. And wanting me to restart a machine that is less than 2 weeks old. Then they want to see my proof I bought machine so I sent it to them but I had already started a return. They send me a email about changing the motherboard that would have to take some time coming from china. I told them I could not wait so they said sent the date I bought it. Like I stole it or trying to scam them so I did that also. Thinking they would at least help me out somehow. And asked if I still had laser. I told them yes then when I sent the proof of purchase again it says return started so they sent back an email that they would help me with a return label. I wanted to get the extra options for my laser from longer 3d. I was going to just get a replacement but I think I will be looking at different companies now that I have had over a week of headaches from LONGER3d. Garbage customer service and communication.

Does anyone know the dimensions of the focus tool (the meta cylinder to adjust the height if the laser)? My guess is the manufacturer forgot to package one or.sent me a used one. Everything looks brand new so I'm assuming one just was not packaged

This machine took some figuring out and made me crazy in the beginning and then I figured it out and it was working well…for a while. It was seamless and I was really excited. And then it started to have issues uploading the file so I would have to restart each time to get it to work, and then slowly but surely it stopped uploading the files at all. I can only assume it’s a firmware issue but when I try to update the firmware, I can’t do it because it’s a .exe and I only have apple products. So this machine that I had purchased so that I could make a side income is sitting and collecting dust. I’m beyond frustrated with this. If anyone could help, I’d be most grateful.
