Review: Small, light and fast double-edged karambit... - LONGTIME karambit carrier - trained in how to use it before they became the "mall-ninja" fad. My usual EDC is an Emerson Combat Karambit - for the longest time it sort of set the gold standard for folding karambits. That said - I have been looking around for a double-edged fixed blade k-bit - there are a number of techniques that really lend themselves to being able to cut in both directions. First impressions: let's get this out of the way first - this is an inexpensive karambit. No, it's not the latest super-steel crafted by a longtime domestic manufacturer with a stellar warranty behind it. It also retails around the $20 mark, so if I damage it, lose it, or get it confiscated, I'm far less likely to cry about it. The edges on the blade are sharp enough - you don't require a razor edge to cut when you're putting your body weight behind it. The handle fills up your hand just enough for control without being unwieldy. I appreciate the Torx screws holding everything together - it's a nice step up from traditional screws. It's a solid little tool that I expect to last a long time. I'm sure some folks are going to complain about the diameter of the finger ring - I am not one of them. I prefer my karambit rings a little on the smallish side, as I don't expect to ever need to use it with gloves on and I don't like excessive space for play during extension/retraction. Overall, I really like the ergonomics of this blade - it's better thought-out than some higher-end production models I have handled over the years. The sheath is acceptable. Again, it's hardly custom-fitted, but in my case it has surprisingly good fit and retention. I don't see the need to stress over it or replace it. I don't recommend carrying it as a neck knife inverted, but short of that I don't expect issues. It's designed to ride inside your belt, and does a great job of that. It's handy, but not in the way. I can't think of any better way to say this - the clip SUCKS. The retention on your belt is abysmal at best - attempting to draw the karambit just snatches it out of your belt along with the clip. I thought about sticking a spare Tek-lok on it (which would solve the problem) but that would add considerable bulk, not to mention that the current retail of a Tek-lok is over half the price of the knife itself. Not an ideal solution. So - I turned the clip upside-down and it's working fine - not ideal, but for it will suffice. It retains its position well enough for EDC and keeps the sheath in place during a quick snatch. I should specifically mention that the handle is short - again, it's a small knife made for easy concealment and portability. I strongly suggest keeping your fingers closed during manipulation lest you extend your fingers into the path of an edge. The jimping on the top of the ring is reasonable - rough enough to provide grip during manipulation, but not enough to tear up your thumb as a control surface. I think I'll carry this one a little while and see how it shakes out - additional thoughts will follow if I encounter any obvious deficiencies.
Review: Solid Backup - Liked the design for the blade. Although it is a bit short, its still a wide blade. Handle is solid and has a good amount of weight to it! Thought it was going to be lighter but it feels nice and solid. I wear medium size gloves and the handle feels nice. Only downside is the sheath and clip that comes with it. The sheath isnt very secure, but its good enough to carry, just not in upside down positions. Also the included clip is useable, but sucks. An ulti-clip is a big upgrade over the included one. Also the sheath rattles a little bit. But overall its a nice little karambit!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good karambit option
*by R***T on January 22, 2024*

This is a really great option if you like the TOPS Knives Quickie but want a four-finger ring option. Pro’s 1. Excellent design. Short and wide, just like a concealable karambit should be. 2. Double edged. Has a blade very similar in design to the Quickie, except much wider and the inner edge is sharp all the way to the choil. 3. Cheap. I don’t normally consider this a pro but I’ll make an exception here. Con’s 1. Inner diameter of ring is very small. I haven’t measured it but it’s less than one inch which is standard and preferably even larger than that. It still fits my finger but if you have large hands or are wearing gloves the ring isn’t going to work for you. 2. Handle scales are quite thick and round. Round handles like to wobble in the hand on impact. They are also heavier and wider, hindering carry and concealment. For a concealable defensive use knife I’d prefer something flatter and leaner. 3. Sheath is minimal and WILL rattle. Even if yours comes nice and tight it will start rattling over time. And it’s pretty shallow, only covering the blade. This would be fine if it didn’t have scales but these fat, heavy G10 slabs tip the balance way off. An Ulti Clip stills works fine and you probably won’t lose it if you don’t invert it. Overall it’s worth the low price and is fun to play with. But it does have its issues and they might be non-starters for some people.
