Makes adjusting brake cables much easier
I actually bought this to replace the brake cable on a family members walker. This allowed me to easily set the correct tension and then let go and have both hands to actually tighten the locking screw into place. I was able to dial in the perfect setting compared to trying to hold it down with a pair of pliers with one hand and attempt to set the screw with the other without having the cable move while doing it. Would recommend for both bikes and walkers.

Not sure how long it'll last - metal a bit on thin side
The tool takes a while to get delivered from China. It looks to be OK and feels light on the hand. I'm not sure how long it'll last as the metal seems a bit on the thin side. The locking mechanism seems to be pretty good. As you squeeze the handles, the ratchet lock clip slides into place. I'll leave this review open for future updates as I will test and use this tool on cabled brake adjustments.Update: May 2023---------------------I actually used this cable puller for cabled disc brakes and a rear derailleur. It's actually very useful and good to pull with a stopper on it. The grip on the cable is good and doesn't damage the cable at all. I'm actually pretty impressed with the tool. Wished I had one of these years ago. My initial review back in March 2022 was a bit skeptical. As long as this tool is not abused, it'll last a very long time. I do recommend it for any cable tightening for bikes. I think I'll up this from 3 to 4 stars.

Cheap Junk
This is cheap stamped plate metal. Flimsy, bendable and sticks when you apply pressure. The spring is weak and useless. Better to buy park tool.

Good Price But...
If you need a cable tool for working on bicycles soon, you should pause before purchasing this one. I purchased one on May 5, 2020 and received 78 days later. Even if you accept some delay due to complications associated with the recent pandemic, a 78-day delay seems inexcusable. The tool seems well designed with adequate construction quality, so its price seems appropriate. It does what it was designed to do, so it will be good to have in my toolbox. So when considering purchasing this tool consider whether the cost savings is offset by the time it takes to receive it. For me the quality of a purchased item is intertwined with the performance and backing provided by its vendor. Thus, my rating of this item reflects my perception of the quality of the item combined with the performance of its vendor.

Great tool for breaks and shifter cables
Well I always thought that I could use two hands maybe some knee pressure and a few tools to simulate what this thing does got new brake pads used my tensioner brake tool adjusted everything without any frustration and everything was good to go and very minimal time Precision Tool for brake adjusting or cable shifting really like this tool it seems like it'll take some abuse but you're just adjusting cables so it's not a monkey wrench I get five stars cuz it took the frustration out of my adjusting plus I didn't get no finger pricks from frayed wires thank you very much although it took a little while to get here very pleased to have it in my tool box

I’ve tried them all…
This cable stretcher makes working on brakes an absolute synch compared to not having one. However the construction is a bit flimsy, the steel is rather thin and it has a serrated pinch lip that can be a little bit tricky to grab the cable with. The lock quit working on mine after ab two weeks of use. I have to pay for return shipping which is half the cost of the item. I build and repair bikes professionally, so I invested in a Park Tool stretcher. Guess I have a back-up now if I ever need it.If you want a cable stretcher (you do if you EVER adjust brakes or derailleurs) but don’t want to spend a lot, forgo the lock mechanism and get the cheap stretcher w no thumb lock. It’s constructed similarly to the park tool BT-2 and works about as well.

Nice little tool
This does exactly what you need it to do. Definitely the cheaper option to ParkTool. Tightens cables with ease. So far I haven’t had any issues. It can be hard sometimes to latch on to a cable, not sure if that’s a gerneral thing or specific to this tool though. I highly recommend picking this up for your tool set for the price!
