Django/Django /The Legendary Django/Django Reinhardt-

Superb release
This is to complement a previous, good review, posted.I started listening with trepidation since the first tracks have a notorious hiss that made me wonder whether the mention of "Digitally remastered for probably the finest ever sound quality" was just cheap, dishonest advertisement. Of course, you can lower the treble and things get much better, but still. So I kept going on for the succulent 168(!) full minutes and was won over by the whole thing. My five stars are fully warranted.First, I would imagine producers decided not fiddle with the "hiss" in order to keep the original sound intact. I say this, of course, based on how good the rest of remastering is. You hear the musicians perfectly clear.Second, the fact that we have here four LPs in a 2CD release of long duration.Third, the reproduction of the original liner notes is appreciated (however, I could not find when these LPs were released!). Lastly, full information on when the tracks were recorded and the lineup of musicians.Discoveries? The tracks with Larry Adler on harmonica were new to me, and amazing. And the tour-de-force of 'Rhytme futur" (w/Hubert Rostaing on clarinet) broght me to a stop; worth checking out.All in all, most satisfied.Any fan of the Hot Club should make sure to have this in their collection.

Enjoy!
I've a lot of Django, but I didn't have yet the cuts with Larry Adler, hich are well worth hearing. Also, as another reviewer has mentioned, the work with clarinetist Hubert Rostaing is outstanding. Enjoy!

A good representation of an amazing guitarist. I understand there may be better compilations available, but this will do fine.

How did Django manage to get this sound with missing fingers, this is an excellent collection of his work showcasing all the skills by a master guitarist.
