This made me question if I had the correct plug adapters / voltage converters / transformers so that she could use the hair dryer safely in Europe. Here's what I learned after some research, in case it helps anyone else who is traveling internationally.In general, most electronics are designed to operate at two voltages (dual voltage), meaning they can work with an input voltage of ~120V (US) and with an input voltage of ~240V (EU and other places). For such electronics, all you need is a plug adapter like this set of 6. The plug adapter is simple--all it does is allow your US plug to physically fit into the EU outlets. These ones worked perfectly during our trip, and they fit into the outlets snugly without any sort of looseness. (We used these in the Netherlands, Germany, Prague, and in Copenhagen without any issues.)However, some other electronics (like my girlfriend's hair dryer) are designed to operate at a single voltage, in this case with an input voltage of ~120V (US). For these electronics, a simple plug adapter is NOT adequate. The plug adapter does not convert or transform the voltage.
