A must read for any parent. - I had the opportunity to get an advance copy of this book over summer and it turned out to be such a great read - as good as Amy's first book 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do. This book is a must read for any parent that wants to bring out the best in their kids. I read this book over summer and worked on the chapters with our 16 year old daughter. She got so involved in it that she read the book as well. While the book is meant for parents, I would recommend that teenagers read it as well. The book is full of real life case studies and very relevant examples. After reading the book through summer, I've noticed such an improvement with our daughter in just a few weeks. She spent over 100 hours volunteering through summer and the school year is going very well. The book provides plenty of tips and examples that can be easily applied. My daughter could easily relate to the examples provided in the book. The book also exposed some of my parenting limitations and help me become a better parent as well. I liked the book so much that I ordered extra copies to give friends and family - especially since there was a great pre-order special on the book. Review: Fabulously well written - Read this book and “13 things strong kids do” both a must read for adults and children who wants to make a difference and more mindful in their lives as parents and children

Exceptional. About more than just parenting
This book will serve you, you as a parent, grandparents and people and children you know. His is more than a parenting book. It’s a life book. A relationship book. A success book.

Good advice, but find your balance
This is a good, no-nonsense book to use as a base for building parenting skills. There's no reliance on spirituality, and the examples given are very common, so the content should be broadly relatable. The only drawbacks I perceive are : a) if you already have some tough problems with a child, seek counseling before implementing these tips and b) if you have, or suspect you have, neurodivergent kids, some of these tips may be difficult to implement or downright damaging. As with all parenting advice books, this is not a golden solution book, but rather a series of helpful tips that can be tried and adjusted for each family.

Absolutely beneficial for anyone raising kids!!!
This book is absolutely phenomenal for parents- I recommend it to ANY parent or grandparent even!!!!! Or aunt or uncle!! Anybody, because it is so supremely eye-opening and helpful in such a common sense way. Such a great read.

Might hit close to home
My favorite part of the book is that all the negative behaviors from children stem from poor parenting techniques, even if the technique was initiated with the best intent (which they usually are). I love how the author provides anecdotes to drive the point home. Parents are like "we've tried everything, but little Johnny is just xxx". After some analyzing, it turns out this isn't Johnny's doing, but something the parents are doing. Might be difficult for many people to accept they are responsible for the poor behavior or lack of emotional maturity exhibited by thier children. Most people want to blame the school, the in-laws, or even the child them self. Couldn't possibly be me or my parenting, right?

Best Parenting Book I’ve Read
I never write reviews, but I felt this book was spot on and a breath of fresh air in today’s world. I am a parent of two girls ages 8 and 9, and a 5th grade teacher. So many issues I see plaguing today’s youth could be circumvented with the strategies outlined in this book. I highly recommend it to parents of all ages.

Outstanding Resource for Parents
Please get a copy of this book. I've been a parent for 20 years (gulp!) and have coached moms for the past 10 years. The way Amy gently brings our attention to these 13 things that are robbing us of our mental strength is magical. I especially love how each chapter gives specific examples of how we can shift these things and/or how to assist our kids at different stages (preschool, school-age, teens, etc...) Well done Amy!!!

Admittedly my first book on the subject of parenting but Morin's common sense approach, tangible examples and an approach to parenting that cuts across all age groups makes this a fantastic read and it is now my foundation.

Very good and useful book. The title is a bit hokey but good content...

It is a great book for parents to read - kids from pre school to young adults are guided for. It is neither pro kids nor pro parents - truly balanced. I am a grand mom yet I learnt a lot on my ‘over lenient’ approach to grandkids
