The sealer worked straight out of the box, without issue. My problem is that it was not clear at all that you had to change out the sealing wire to get it to seal and cut. Once I figured that out, by looking at other listings, I was able to figure out I need to put the round wire in there. Replacing the sealing wire is a pain, but doable. If you aren’t dexterous, good luck. But they are all like this. TIP; be very gentle with the screws holding the wire in. They seem to be floating or something and are very fragile feeling. Overall, the product works great, seals quickly, and does exactly what I need. Tip: start at like heat 3 and see if that works. Make sure to wait at least that full second after the light goes off. It’s important. Not sure why none of the questions are answered correctly indicating it can seal and cut. The instructions might as well have been in Latin, because they made no sense and provided no real use. Just watch the video they have. Pretty simple to use. While some people say they received a unit that needed additional repair to work, mine worked straight out the box. I’d recommend this unit. Hope it lasts 18 months. PS, I gave it 3*’s on easy to use for the reason of being challenging to change the sealing wire.

So simple to use and works in seconds in sealing plastic bags. In my case my fertilizer bags and other plastic bags I use for landscaping I had to fold and tape shut. Not anymore! I just seal it for later use. The seal is complete and strong. Even if the bag is too wide I just make a diagonal seal from both side of the bag to the middle. The overlapping seals do. It cancel out. Compatible with all type of plastic bags. Just set the dial temperature control knob and go. Very versatile for use in sealing a return bag back to shipper as well.

Okay, I was excited to get the sealer that would seal Mylar bags up to 10 mil, Mine are 7 mil so I was excited... BUT it wouldn't even seal my 3mil food saver bags... HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT... Needless to say I am RETURNING!!!!! UPDATE: They did replace my sealer and this one works great for everything I need it to do... I appreciate the fast response and delivery of the second one... Thank You Very Satisfied

I just received this and it didn't work. Here is what I did: STEP 1 - UNPLUG IT, please don't die STEP 2 - Check the size of the unit, there is a black plug. Unscrew it, make sure the fuse isn't blown. If it is replace it and retest. If its good, go to step 3. STEP 3 - Unscrew the bottom. There are four screws located in the feet. STEP 4 - Look at left side, there is a black switch contact (I circled it in red in my picture). Physically push that switch and listen. You'll hear a very loud audible click you probably were not hearing before. This is the "on switch" When you lower the bar, you'll see the brass colored metal is supposed to push it in. On my unit, this wasn't contacting hard enough. STEP 5 - with a pair of pilars and while holding the arm. slightly bend the metal finger to the left (refer to my other picture) STEP 6 - WITH THE DEVICE STILL UNPLUGGED, and the bottom off, set the unit upright and lower the handle listening for that click. If it clicks, you're in business. STEP 7 - Screw the bottom plate back, plug it in and test it on a bag. PRO tip, start at the lowest setting and slowly work your way up on the bags until you find the 'doneness' you prefer.

I am replacing my old impulse sealer that I bought in 2004. It looks exactly the same, same color, knob, fuse, everything. The last one worked for 20 years never trouble at all. but after 20 years the transformer went, and it was cheaper to buy a new unit than fix the old one :) It's a very dependable unit, I never had any trouble sealing practically any plastic or mylar material out there.

Arrived defective. Heat sealer makes a strange internal noise when you lower the handle and attempt to heat seal. I attempted to process a return, selecting the option for pick up. My item was never picked up and due to the busy time of year, I never found the time to follow up on the return. Unfortunately I am not out the money for a product that never worked.

This was a great purchase, and I definitely got what I paid for. You may have to play with the temp knob a bit to get it working with the material that you seal, but in general I found that setting it in the middle works for 90% of materials that aren't too thick. Make sure you don't use the sealer on the "red" temperature zone excessively because it will melt the teflon and burn out the element quickly. As a side note; I had a minor issue where my sealer would spark sometimes when I used it and eventually it shorted and burned out the element. If this happens to you it's because the wire element that runs down the length of the sealer (under the teflon tape) is making contact with the metal body of the sealer. The easy fix for this is to unscrew the two plates (held down by 3 screws each) on both sides of the teflon tape and put another piece of teflon tape underneath the wire element, making sure you cover the place where it may have touched metal (you can tell because it will look black and charred). You can also easily replace your element if it burns out the same way, the two parts that hold the wire element are springy so it may take some effort to get it properly attached on both ends.

Purchased May 2018. It's Oct 2024, guess it's time to review. No problems ever, decided to change out element after tens of thousands of sealing adventures, nothing wrong with it, just figured I'd do some clean up, since the elements are cheap atm and going on 7yrs it's time to tune up. never popped a fuse. no worries there.

Love this machine for sealing up our berry bags that go for retail

I've been using this since mid March, the unit has already failed liked the others I've used before it. Will replace the parts again today and see if it changes. I've had cheaper sealers work longer than this one before crapping out.
