This thing can save you a ton of money!
This little device is a must for anything that has a compressor in it such as a refrigerator or freezer. I'm not sure if it would be appropriate for an air conditioner due to their higher current rating. The reason for this is your utility power can and does, at times to either a "brown out" which means the voltage drops below the normal 120 VAC, or will do a quick "drop out" which is like a blink. Either oh these conditions is rather bad for a compressor if it happens to be running at that time. When the power restores to normal, the compressor will try to start but it can't because there is a huge amount of back pressure in the line. During normal cycling, it comes on, runs until the temperature is correct then shuts off. It stays off for usually many minutes. This allows the Freon in the coils to equalize. This device, for a small amount of money, will not allow the power to come back on to your refrigerator or freezer, for about 3 minutes if even the briefest drop in voltage occurs. This not only protects the compressor, but can also protect the digital circuit and driver that controls the compressor. We had a series of blinks that took out a control board in our freezer last Jan. I had put one of these on the new refrigerator but forgot about the older freezer. Luckily, it didn't take out its compressor that time. It has this device on it now! It took $400 to jog my memory... Don't let it happen to you! Get one for each refrigerator and freezer you have!

Over a year still working
I was worried about buying something that wasn’t certified to protect an expensive refrigerator. This thing has worked well with no issues for over a year. Every time I have a power surge, there’s a delay on the refrigerator coming back up, which is what I wanted.

Great Product - But Keep Product Packaging with Description Close By Surge Protector ......
I just purchased a new fridge and living in a part of the country that sees a lot of power surges and electrical fluctuations. I wasn't going to take a chance with frying the electronics in the fridge (which happened a while back and we lost the fridge, the freezer, the whole house fan, the water softener, the garage door opener, and two TVs). I have since added individual surge protectors to all our appliances (washer and dryer too....) in addition to having an electrician add a house surge protector to the circuit breaker. After living without a fridge for 5 weeks, I wasn't going to repeat the experience. This particular surge protector appears to have a buffer for electrical surges and fluctuations. It cost more than I have spent for surge protectors in the past, but losing an appliance is so much more inconvenient from both a time and money perspective. I'm not sure how to gauge whether it is working or not. Time will tell as I just plugged it in a couple of days ago.... 12/20/15 UPDATE: I've had the surge protector on the fridge and it has been working fine. Today I wanted to test my new generator to understand what power we can count on in a power outage. The startup of the generator blew out the surge protector for the fridge. The surge protector turned yellow, which is the 3 minute spike suppressor. Since I didn't keep the packaging WITH the device, I didn't remember what the yellow light was for and thought the surge protector failed. The good news is that it did what it was supposed to do and recycled back to green. I am now adding labels over the spanish words with english so everyone can tell the status of the protector. Great product except it should have had BOTH English and spanish. Am buying another for my garage freezer !.

Great device but label on device is in Foreign language.
This is a great device for protecting modern freezers and refrigerators from power surges and blips. Ordered because our freezer went into error mode and shutdown after a power dip the other day. This device will keep the unit off for 3 minutes after the power stabilizes. The only problem I had with it is that the packaging is in English, but the label on the device (including the part that tells you what the LEDs mean is in a FOREIGN LANGUAGE. Fortunately there is a box on the package that shows what the LEDs mean which I was able to tape to the device. Would give 5 stars if not for this issue.

Jammed Packed
I mean this thing is jammed packed with electronic components to protect your fridge. There's a total of 57 electronic components and I didn't include the 4 LED lights. The circuit board is well laid out and very clean solder connections. The design engineers were hard at work on this. It does generate a bit of heat. Using my infrared thermometer probing the circuit board temperatures are 80 to 127 degrees Fahrenheit. I own a variac which is an variable AC voltage regulator, basically what it does it allows me to manipulate the voltage of regular household current. I'm able to raise or lower the voltage. While testing this product it performed as stated, high and low voltage detection functioned properly. As far as I can tell the three-year international warranty is just for the product itself, if it fails or manufacturing defects. No $ connected equipment warranty... I just blew my warranty away since I had opened it so I may show you pictures of the innards. I copied & paste this from their product PDF: APPLIED RULES Designed according to Standard: UL 498A COVENIN 3445 Verified according to Standards: IEC 1000-4-2 Electrostatic Discharge IEC 1000-4-3 Radio Frequency Fields IEC 1000-4-4 Fast electrical transients IEC 1000-4-5 High Energy Peak Immunity NOM-003-SCFI-2000 · About Voltage ............................................... 140 V ~ · Low Voltage ............................................... ... 90 V ~ · Suppressor against spikes //// Instantaneous FN-NT-FT ......... 303 joules, 400V · Timing to Connection after a Voltage Failure ................. 3 min Technical data: Nominal Voltage 120 VAC Minimum Voltage 90 VAC Maximum Voltage 140 VAC Instant Surge Suppressor 3 POLES 303 JOULES 400V Reconnection Time 3 minutes Maximum Load 1OA (1/3 HP) It's been in use for 4 weeks and no complaints so far. It has operated as intended one time so far. I bought this when it was $22.99 Sold by: KTC web

Good Price
We just had to replace our refrigerator. We have rural electric and seem to have a lot of flickers that we felt might be the reason our frig went out. It couldn't easier to install and is well worth the peace of mind.

Saved my refrigerator!
I purchased this electronic surge protector after a series of power brown outs at my house during a thunderstorm fried the control board of my 3 month old refrigerator. It literally set the card on fire. There were scorch marks and soot stains on the plastic case holding the card. The repair guy was surprised how bad it was. Im in Maine and we just had a massive windstorm that left 300,000 of us without power. I have two Honda generators (EU200i and the companion model). Used these with a high end extension cord to power the refrigerator and two deep freezers. I always used the surge protector between the fridge and the cord to CYA. I wish I could say power outages are a rarity as a CMP (Central Maine Power) customer, but they’rei not. While running the fridge to keep from losing all my food, the surge protector registered a voltage drop and cut power to the fridge. Why refrigerators don’t protect themselves from voltage drops, I don’t know. Seems like a simple fix to protect the control card. The surge protector died, but it saved the fridge. I’m back today to buy another one. As I’ve been typing this, the power has flickered again. Remember brown outs and power fluctuations can destroy delicate electronics. Everything in my house that can be protected by surge protectors has them. I also have this company’s microwave protector.

You won’t regret buying
A durable, long lasting power surge protector. I live in an area that experiences multiple power outages a year and this surge protector has never failed to keep my fridge safe. Great purchase!
