The Lays of Marie de France (Hackett Classics)

Get the Gallagher translation!
Prof. Edward Gallagher has performed a truly artistic and moving translation of the "Lays..". When you read it or hear it (Audible), you have no idea that it was translated from another language. Though the stories are medieval, they are filled with emotion and excitement and deep insights into human nature. I think this book and this translation will become a real classic among great works of literature. (Be sure to get the Gallagher translation from 2010 and not the Mason translation that is over 100 years old.)

Amazon is confusing 2 different books here
I find it appalling that despite several messages to Amazon, they refuse to comprehend and to correct the confusion and confation of two completely different translations of The Lays of Marie de France on this page. The reader-review, titled "Abstruse Language," refers to the Kindle edition of Eugene Mason's 1911 translation of The Lays of Marie de France. One of the paperback books listed on this page is also by this same Eugene Mason; the other paperback book (the one dated 2010) is by me, Ed Gallagher. The hard-back listed is by me, Ed Gallagher. Mason did his translation of The Lays one hundred years ago; Gallagher's is from this century (from 2010) and, as the translator, I can say that the language in my 2010 translation is not at all abstruse.
