By The Cup Licorice Pastels, 11 oz Bulk Bag

Honestly, these are the best candies I have ever had. I have ordered a really big bag but didn't want that much so I ordered a smaller bag and my son and I split it. Then I ordered another small bag for me and didn't share with anybody and no joke. I ate it in less than 24 hours. And there was a lot in the bag, but they are so yummy. I would take a picture, but I can't because I ate them all.

these used to be my favorite candy and you could find them at any candy store - now even the big specialty candy stores don't carry them any more. have not been able to find them in 3 years. this is a pound and a half bag - that's a lot . price could be a tad less but still not a bad deal. using my points it went from 17 bucks to 7. no complaints here. very happy

With the star rating being 4+, I thought I'd try this brand because my husband enjoys licorice pastels. The package arrived promptly just in time for his birthday. (Thank you, Amazon.) I opened the padded envelope, slit open the bag, and poured the pastels into a little candy jar all while thinking - there's something wrong with these. I tried a few pieces and they were tasteless. My husband tried a few and much to my dismay he said they were just okay. Well, he will be 87 in a couple days and his tastebuds aren't what they used to be at someone his age (sorry, honey) plus he's not a complainer. I'm only guessing there must have been some changes in quality control with the company "By the Cup". Take a close look at my picture and compare with the other pictures. The pictures used by the reviewers (who received free product for their review) show a 12oz package and the licorice pastels are nicely shaped and have beautiful colors... VERY MUCH LIKE Jelly Belly! The colors in my photo are not pastel - and not even close to what is pictured by the company and reviewers. The "licorice pastels" I received are dull and have no sheen to them and are poorly shaped and lumpy. The licorice itself is tasteless and the candy coating is underwhelming and chalky. The "By The Cup Licorice Pastels, 11oz Bag" is a poor excuse for licorice pastels. This bag has been repacked and taped and going back to Amazon for a $9.99 credit towards real licorice pastels.

I was at the Jelly Belly factory and they no longer make them which was disappointing. I bought these to see if they would be ok...and "ok" is all they are. They aren't smooth, kinda bitter (considering it's licorice) but they'll do in a pinch. I doubt I'll repurchase them, tho.

Fresh and tasty

I’d bought this candy from this company before and it was great. This time I received stale, old, and inedible candy. Plus, the bag I got did not look anything like the picture or what I had ordered in the past. I’m very disappointed and will not order again.

I think this bag must be old because they are stale and very hard to chew. We'll probably have to try somewhere else to get them fresh.
