First choice if you are
Initially, I bought a cheap gauge, It did not hold vacuum and set me back a week and compromised my system. This holds vacuum and is accurate. It should have been my first choice.

Terrible support team
UPDATE: After telling a very kind Customer Rep which part of the tool was broken (the T-fitting), they promptly responded that they would just send me another free of charge and honored the warranty. It arrived two days later, a lot quicker than I expected. Great customer support and a really good product. Previously a 2 star, now 5. Iโm having to pay a fee to ship this item because it malfunctioned on me. Gasket in adapter burst somehow and the adapter began sticking as if it was rated (it is not). Which will probably take at least 2-3 weeks. When it was working it was a pretty good item the two times I used it. Support isnโt even an actual person reaching out. As soon as I put the request in I got an email telling me to ship it. Not necessarily trying to wait this long but I guess I have no choice and weโll see what they say. Depending on the response and time the stars could be moved to a 4โฆ potentially a 5

Great accurate DIY friendly gauge for HVAC install.
I needed a micron gauge for a DIY heatpump install. Usually I go super cheap on tools I'll really only need once but I wanted to be sure that the reading was accurate as a leak is pretty expensive problem with today's refrigerants. This is a nice high quality gauge from an established company with a calibration certificate. I've seen a fair number of these being used in videos from HVAC professionals. I found the gauge to function flawlessly. This was a great value for a gauge that is certified to be accurate. Unit is easy to use, and includes the needed 9v battery. One of the best features is that per the manual, this gauge can withstand the pressure of the refrigerant when releasing the system charge so you don't need to remove the gauge from your core tool prior to releasing the refrigerant. It also includes a small padded pouch for storage which was a nice touch.

Should have bought this sooner
I tried the cheap ones but they either leaked or didn't work. This one does fine and is accurate enough for the work I'm doing. Don't know if I will last but so far so good!

Not very accurate above 20 torr or so. Mine had a bad virtual leak that improved
I got two of these. The first was very inaccurate above 1000 microns, the second was fairly accurate up to about 20 Torr. To be fair, most of the other micron gauges only go up to 10 or 12 Torr and I'm pretty sure this one uses a similar sensor. I guess the other models choose not to guess, and this one does guess. Still I prefer having some idea of the vacuum even when I know it is inaccurate. At first I though that both units that I got leaked pretty badly. I returned the first as it was inaccurate to boot. I usually use it to pull initial vacuum so the leak is not a dealbreaker. My process outgasses so the working pressure is much higher. A strange thing happened though. I left the chamber under vacuum for a couple of days (I thought to let a new gasket outgas) but low and behold the gauge stopped leaking as well. Either there is some outgassing going on, or a virtual leak to some other part of the gauge, but after the initial vacuum, I pulled the chamber down to 400microns and the gauge seemed fine ~5 micron per hour leakup on a 3 gal vacuum chamber. So If you have one of these sitting in a box thinking it leaks and is worthless, Hook it up to a vacuum chamber for a few days and see if it stops leaking Overall I am happy with the gauge for its wider range and lower price

Horrible Horrible Horrible.
I have purchased this gauge and a 1.9 vacuum pump, and the work, quality of both items impress me. I am a tool fanatic when it comes to "instruments" and this is not a tool, but should more appropriately called an instrument. It is made in the USA and I intend to buy future items from CPS products first." September 16, 2018: I am taking back my earlier review. The vacuum gauge has been isolated and I duplicated the experiment with 2 separate vacuum pumps, and it is not able to hold the micron reading. It slowly creeps up. I used denatured alcohol per the manufacturer's instructions (did that several times) and let it dry overnight and the problem still persists. Please note that I used this gauge on a recovery cylinder twice and on my vehicle twice, and I suspect that the sensor is going wild. I do not think it is a leak. I think the sensor is just not stable. I am going to look at another product almost more than double the price on Amazon and compare the results. CPS Products needs to admit that it is has a problem with this product and stop selling it. With so many unhappy customers, you would think CPS would get it. It was time consuming and the most frustrating experience. If you relied on my earlier review to buy this product, I am sorry!

Not a fan of the 9v battery. wish it was double AA or Triple AAA at least. ideally a USB C charger with inbuilt battery would be best s you dont need to purchase batterys all the time, just keep it charged every few nights is easy and free. It seems to work well. shut off pump at 200 microns and it rises then equalises around 400 usually pretty good. for some reason i dont trust it not sure what it is but i just feel like it cant beleive what its reading. idk maybe thats just me feeling. cant put my finger on it yet. dont get me wrong this thing works its just that like any of these micron gauges their so expensive, theres no realiable way to calibrate them or compare with others because they cost an arm and a leg, and truly know if its reading the correct measurement. I just wish there was a way to test them and be able to prove that they are working correctly. i just dont like micron gauges in generall every the really expensive ones seem so edgy like a slight breeze and they suddenly read wrong or stop working. this is the 3rd one ive bought. 1st was the feidpeice cost about $500, then the blue vac mini $500 too, and that was my favourite but my set up was dodgy so changed that to all new hoses and shii and got this cps then it worked well. sill need to test this along side my bluevac but if they have different readings im scared i wont know which one to trust and loose faith in them all.
