I had trouble specifying which unit to buy. These devices are rated to 288 volts while my AC unit’s starter capacitor is rated for 370 volts. I emailed customer service the model numbers for my two AC units. They responded the following day with a recommendation for this device. I suspect the difference in voltage rating is due to this device removing itself from the circuit after the AC unit starts, potentially the use of better materials, and less safety margin.My nearly 20 year old AC unit started up immediately once I replaced the starter capacitor and added this Hard Start Kit. It starts much faster than it used to, which I attribute to the addition of the Hard Start Kit.I installed the Hard Start Kit in my other AC unit that has always had trouble starting, and now it starts immediately and no longer dims the lights!FYI, I have found no explanation for why Hard Start Kits are rated to a lower voltage than starter caps.

Easy to install and now my lights don't dim when the AC kicks on. It also starts up faster and sounds much healthier overall.
