The NEEWER Teleprompter X17 II is honestly the perfect product for the dollar amount. It gives you that professional teleprompter setup without making you spend a crazy amount of money, and the best part is how easy it is to use. Setup is simple, the build feels solid, and it works great for recording videos, interviews, talking-head content, YouTube videos, courses, and social media work. It makes speaking on camera feel way more natural because you can stay locked in with the lens while reading your script smoothly. For the price, you’re getting a product that feels professional, saves time, and instantly makes your video workflow better. If you’re a content creator, videographer, business owner, or anyone who records on camera, the NEEWER Teleprompter X17 II is definitely worth it. Easy to set up, easy to use, and a great value overall.

This teleprompter works very well and has a quality build, with a few exceptions. Issues: • The darkbox has thin (thickness) zipper banding that allows light to pass through it. In some cases this allows light to come through the image if there are lights behind the prompter. It also feels like the zipper would be the first thing to break if you were to pack this up and move it around (a suggested use case given the included storage / transport box). • The display tray doesn't squeeze a display (it locks in place but doesn't apply pressure) so if this prompter were mobile (maybe on a shoulder rig or dolly) the display could slide out the side. This could be improved with some cushioning foam to grip the display. Features • The prompter has a mostly metal construction • The adjustable pull out display tray is fairly rigid and doesn't limit the horizontal display size (I'm using a ProArt [PA148].) • There are mounting shoes in the front and sides of the prompter which could hold lights or a microphone. • The camera height and distance is adjustable (fits my A7 IV with a Sigma 24-70.) • There are multiple locations for mounting a tripod plate to the bottom, which allows for balancing the prompter. Tip: If you want to use this as an external display (wired to a computer) you'll have a horizontally flipped video by default. To fix this, I used OBS Studio (which is free) to 'Window Capture' the content that should be on the prompter, flip it (Right click 'Source' > Transform > Flip Horizontal), and then project it (Right click 'Scene' > Fullscreen Projector (Scene) > select the prompter display).

Build Quality: The unit feels sturdy for its price point — the beam-splitter glass is clear with minimal ghosting, and the hood does a good job blocking ambient glare so you can actually read your script outdoors or under bright studio lights. Setup: Assembly is straightforward, though I’d recommend watching a quick video first since the included instructions are a bit sparse. The mounting plate accommodates most DSLR/mirrorless cameras, and it attaches securely to a standard tripod. Versatility: The “2-in-1” design is the standout feature — it works with both a tablet (running a teleprompter app) and comes with its own control setup, which is handy if you’re switching between phone/tablet-based scripting and dedicated software. Performance: Text scrolls smoothly with no lag when paired with a good teleprompter app, and remote control functionality (if included in your bundle) makes solo filming much easier. Minor Gripes: The foam padding on the hood could be more durable, and cable management is a bit of an afterthought. Not a dealbreaker, but worth noting. Bottom Line: For solo creators, YouTubers, or small studios who need a reliable, portable teleprompter without spending $300+, this is a great value pick. Recommended.

Good but does not work with phones

Just what I needed.

It's my first teleprompter and it works fine. The construction is reasonably good (probably except somewhat weak mirror hinges). However the reason I wanted to write this review is to answer popular question: can you use your phone as a camera in this teleprompter? Well, you actually can. However, it's tricky, since all the iPhone mounts doesn't take into account the fact that the camera is not in the center of the phone. So you can install any mount into the teleprompter you like, but the camera will be well off-center of the mirror. I managed to overcome this (see photos) by using Neewer ST20 magic arm, a no-name 9x5cm cheese plate, Neewer PA010 magnetic phone holder and a random 1/4 bolt with its head cut. This way you can perfectly center the phone (in my case - iPhone 12 mini) camera. It's not possible to install the phone very close to the mirror since the teleprompter shade doesn't have enough space here. The teleprompter parts visible a little bit from phone's Camera app, but for some reason they aren't visible if using the phone as Continuity Camera. I'm using iPad 11" Pro as a screen with BetterDisplay app to mirror its screen. Works well!

I'm a bit conflicted on this product. I like that it's an all-in-one solution and other than a source to feed the included tablet, you're pretty much ready to go. Then again, man - if they would have just made the mounting system a little more sturdy I'd be tempted to give this a straight-up 5 stars. Pros: It's all inclusive and I confirmed this DOES work with my older "lightning" based phone paired with a lightning-to-HDMI (then adding HDMI to Mini adapter). The tablet is very bright, adjustable and will basically run anything you can throw at it via HDMI/USB C. The reflecting screen is nice and clear and the camera shroud works well being a soft cloth (rather than a stiff material my older one used). The Cons: The mounting is sketchy at best. The thin plastic has trouble supporting even my smaller G9 MKII with a smaller lens on it. It precariously wobbles back and forth at the lightest touch. If you have a larger camera and larger lens, I'd look for something more robust. Mini HDMI - it's like having Mini USB at this point; surely there's room enough in there to put a full size HDMI port. Having to adapt from HDMI to mini just adds extra strain hanging off the side fo that tablet. I'm sure this will, at some point, cause stress issues in that small port. Conclusion: If they upgraded this to metal mounting and replaced the mini-HDMI with full HDMI, this would be a full 5 star product.

Lo primero, ¿funciona? Sí. ¿Calidad de materiales para el precio? Suficiente, ¿Es práctico? Depende de tu proyecto y necesidades, ¿El software para teleprompter es práctico? No del todo. Lo primero que debes saber si eres nueva o nuevo en el ambiente de los teleprompters es que un mayor tamaño no necesariamente implica que sea mejor. Por eso, la sugerencia es que verifiques primero qué necesita tu proyecto antes de elegir. ¿DE QUÉ TAMAÑO ES TU PROYECTO? (Y TU ESPACIO) Para creadoras y creadores de escritorio, que graban con su webcam, la solución podría venir en apps sencillas (como Cueprompter) que facilitan la lectura desde la pantalla de la lap o monitor, evitando la necesidad siquiera de un dispositivo como este. También, es posible que, versiones más pequeñas en diseños que se montan en la lente de la cámara y operan con celulares (disponibles también de Neewer) , la necesidad se resuelva. LA HERRAMIENTA NO SUSTITUYE LA PRÁCTICA Es importante comprender que, en este caso como en otros tantos, no es la herramienta la que resuelve mágicamente una necesidad de habilidad comunicativa, sino la práctica constante, estrategias y técnicas del talento (quien esté frente a la cámara) para transmitir de manera convincente los mensajes (hay videos en Youtube que orientan al respecto). CONSTRUCCIÓN ROBUSTA A CAMBIO DE... Construcción robusta y práctica para sus dimensiones, esta versión en específico permite el uso de lentes más amplias pidiendo, a cambio, un tripié robusto (preferentemente que soporte de 8 a 10 kgs), y mayor distancia de la persona que lo usa. DETALLES CON EL SOFTWARE DE NEEWER Un particular que no suele mencionarse, viene con la app gratuita propietaria de Neewer y el control remoto que esta marca incluye para todos sus teleprompters. Entre las funciones básicas que resultan útiles en cualquier software de teleprompter está la posibilidad de manipular márgenes. Hacerlos más estrechos, por ejemplo, facilita que la lectura demande al talento menos recorrido visual y que permita una lectura más natural frente a la lente. Dado que la versión actual de la app no cuenta con esta función, su funcionalidad se ve limitada. No es un requerimiento extra ni premium (la mayoría de apps básicas para teleprompters lo tienen). Sin embargo, para las y los desarrolladores de la app en Neewer no resultó relevante. Además, dado que su control remoto está diseñado para funcionar sólo con su app propietaria, no facilita compensar el particular controlando apps alternativas gratuitas que sí lo permitirían. El detalle podría resolverse con una sencilla actualización en su app. Veremos si Neewer vuelve la mirada a su público para solucionar este detalle.

La calidad de construcción es excelente y se nota desde el primer momento. El cristal ofrece una lectura clara sin afectar la calidad de la imagen de la cámara. El montaje es sencillo, se siente robusto y compatible con diferentes configuraciones de grabación. La aplicación funciona bien y facilita ajustar la velocidad del texto durante las grabaciones. Ha mejorado significativamente la fluidez de mis videos y me permite mantener contacto visual con la cámara de forma natural. Una inversión muy recomendable para creadores de contenido, cursos en línea, transmisiones en vivo y producción de video profesional.

Aluciné con la calidad de este teleprompter. Necesité alguno en más de una ocasión, y me tenía que conformar con una tablet cerca de la cámara. Terrible. Luego compré uno económico y solo tenía lugar para un movil de pantalla pequeña, así que la sensación era muy cutre. Cuando me decidí por este, y ví que venía la maleta de aluminio, alucine con la calidad de los acabados. Te dejo fotos. Es mejor que cualquier explicación. Muy recomendable
