The media could not be loaded.  I bought this in April and it’s now December 2018. I have not used the pillow much but noticed tiny white bugs around the pillow. When I opened the pillow, there were lots of tiny white bugs! So disappointed that I can’t return this item.

I was looking at reviews for other buckwheat filled pillows, but after reading that they contained bugs, I looked elsewhere. I purchased this thinking that I could avoid that problem with this company, but I was let down. Upon zipping the cushion open and shining a flashlight, I saw little translucent bugs crawling around inside. I'm returning it right away. It may just be a thing with buckwheat, but it thoroughly made me upset.:(

Initially I took out the inner pouch to clean them all off, thinking they may have gotten in there during shipment. But the next day I decided to check it again and more had emerged, which are shown in the video. As for the material, it seemed sturdy but definitely more of a split-pea green color than I was expecting. If not for the bugs, I would have liked this cushion.

I like how well it cushions and adjusts its shape. My kids are always fighting over it. However, a few things to consider. After reading one review about bugs I decided to put it in a plastic bag and seal it and put under the hot California sun for 2 days. Well, a considerable amount of moisture came out of it. Beads of water were in the plastic. Well if there could be any bugs or dust mites inside I would have thought the heat should kill it. And just for added measure I decided to throw it in the dryer at low to completely dry out any moisture left. I did notice after all this that the color faded A LOT without even using it yet. I'm still okay with my purchase but hopefully the makers might take my issues into consideration. At the price of these things they should be ready to use without any added measures the customer has to make.Update: 1 year later it is holding up well. However we use it more on top of a round ottoman to put our feet ans sometimes to sit on. It is well made as the stitching is very much intact. None of the insides have ever spilled out.

It took a little getting used to but once I found my balance and my three point sitting pose it was very comfortable.It is firm but it has give because of the buckwheat hulls, as oppsed to one with just cotton which is very firm with not much give.I personally prefer this over a cotton zafu.Im pretty flexable and pretty skinny so i got the 12x12x4.5 zafu.Basically if you can sit on a zabuton or the ground and your knees almost touch the floor in the pose you use (I use a holf lotus) then I would recommend the 4.5 height (adjust the width to your size) if you dont have much flexability in the groin and hip muscles then I would reccomend the 6 inch height.Im not sure how to recommend the 5 inch as Ive only used a 6 inch and 4.5 inch cusion.Another thing i did before I bought the zafu is I took a measuring tape and made it a foot wide and the other sizes offered and sat on it and that is how I judged what width I needed.

I have purchased 3 of these cushions to maintain harmony in my 2 cat, 1 meditator household.I loved the first cushion I purchased -comfortable, sturdy, and easy to clean (although the color green was a little different than shown - more dull, but still a good color). My two cats also loved it; they thought it was for them (it's a cushion on the floor that clearly wasn't designed for cats, so of course they loved it). I would get gentle paws asking to sit on me while meditating. So, I got the cats a cushion. "Perfect!" I thought. "Now they won't bother me when meditating." The second cushion was in blue, and again the color wasnt as vivid as the online photo, but that was ok with me.My assumption of "enough cushions" was incorrect. Now that there was a SECOND cushion, new problems arose. Clearly the second cushion was ALSO for the cats (2 cats, 2 cushions...perfect sense). So now my cushion was either occupied by a cat, cat fur, or I would still be asked by one cat to sit on me while meditating.So I bought a third, slightly smaller, in grey (color match was correct) for me.I've had these for a year now, with weekly cover washing- they have held up excellently.My household is now in harmony.

I did a full inspection of this meditation pillow as you can see by the pictures. My husband went elbow deep into the filling, just to make sure. There were no bugs to be found. I LOVE IT! It is comfortable and just the right height. I'm not a tiny girl so I ordered the 16 inch, I'm glad I did, it's perfect. I am even ordering another one now that I know its bug free.

The media could not be loaded.  This meditation cushion is outstanding! I actually have another that is hard and not very comfortable. This one has the buckwheat inside of it making it very comfortable. If your a smaller size like me it's perfect! They have other sizes that will fit larger people so it's a great buy. I also love the fact that it fits right into my meditation credenza. The cushion is also very portable and I can just throw in my bag and go to meditation class. I really don't see any cons with this product I highly recommend!

UPDATE: The longer I had this, the more I felt it was too "empty". Finally I did a 4 day retreat and used it many hours a day and had terrible pain until I started propping it up with things in the back so it wouldn't sag so much and let me settle into the middle.It was just too empty! And the more I used it, the "emptier" it felt. I think the husks sort of "settle" so it feels less and less full over time. This means if it doesn't feel full when you get it, expect it to feel worse as time goes on!I bought a 1lb bag of husks and have been filling it up with it and the change is IMMENSE. Finally I can sit for 30 mins without the last 10 minutes being me thinking of how my back or legs hurt, and always needing to "reshuffle" the husks under me which breaks my concentration.So maybe if you get this, also order a bag of husks so you can ensure it's full enough for you.On the other hand, someone else at the retreat had the same cushion, but her's was WAY more full than mine ever was, so maybe I got a dud, which also sucks because then it's a quality control issue.I'm switching my review from 5 to 3 because it was not only a bad thing that it wasn't full enough, I went through a lot of genuine pain realizing that the problem was the cushion and not me. It's good that they have the zipper so you can add/remove husks, but the default should be "too full" (like a hacky sack) and you remove what you don't want, not that it's "too empty" and you have to pay another 20$ for a bag of husks to boost it with.Note the photo is from when I first got it, but I "fluffed" it up to make it more full, even at that point it looked sad and saggy by default.----OLD REVIEW BEFORE I CAME TO TERMS WITH IT REALLY BEING TOO EMPTY---I've had it about a week now and use it every day for a 30-40 minute sit, so this isn't (yet) a long-term review, but it's also more than first impressions. Big disclaimer this is my first dedicated meditation cushion so I'm reviewing it as someone with 50+ hours of meditating on ad-hoc surfaces like chairs and stacked up blankets in a backpack.So far this cushion is really nice. I like how it looks and it's mostly like the photos. It's a bit more "empty" than it looks in the pics I guess, but if you fluff it up it looks pretty full.When you sit on it, there's more "give" than I expected. The husks under my butt move out of the way and behind me, and I end up sitting at the edge (always site at the edge of cusions like this, sitting in the center is bad and will be uncomfortable), with the cushion ultimately at an incline with the high parts behind me.That sounds weird but it's still comfortable, and I find I can finally sit up straight for the full 30 mins without my legs getting sore as they always did when I was sitting on stacked up blankets (which were otherwise about the same height).So yeah, sit at the edge, allow the beans to settle underneath you, then sit up with your back straight but your butt settled comfortably under you. This has been working for me.Really glad I bought this pillow, and even though the way the husks sit under me was a bit off-putting, it ultimately feels really natural to me.So other notes:* I got the 12" one and it's big enough for me. I have a relatively skinny frame and small butt, so YMMV.* 12" one is nice and somewhat portable, it fits in my large-ish school-style backpack. It's a bit of a squeze, but because it's malleable and you can remold it into different shapes, I bet it would fit in a lot of bags.* I brought it outside and put it in a normal size disposable shopping bag to use it on the grass at the park and that seemed to work fine.* Haven't experimented with the zippers etc. so no idea if those are sturdy or not.* There's definitely some extra room in there, which tempts me to buy extra husks somewhere else and make it a little more full, but I'm not sure if that would spoil the "balance" of it.Note: my photo makes it look really big, it's just perspective.

Poor quality, returned. I bought because it had great reviews but my item arrived full of loose threads leaving poor sewing craftsmanship. Also the inner bag to hold the buckwheat seeds is important to the product seeing you are sitting on the pillow but the material is the quality of paper towel or nylon for pantyhose and the buckwheat were already falling out. This quality would never sell in Canada.

Bought this for meditation. It’s fantastic. I got the 13x13, but I wonder if the 12x13 wld have been a smidge better size wise. (I’m a small person) the fabric and zipper are great quality. The carrying handle is also great! Seems very durable! I love that the cover can come off for washing and I really like the buckwheat filling. If it gets a bit lopsided while sitting on it, just shake it out and sit down again.This has helped me sit In the lotus position better. (My left foot usually falls asleep, but it hasn’t since I’ve used this.) It also helps me sit up straighter with less effort.As an added bonus I’ve used it when sitting on the floor while I eat or do homework at the coffee table.I love this product and am very happy I treated myself!

Cela fait trois jours que je possède ce Zafu et je suis pour l'instant très satisfaite. Le coussin est confortable, semble robuste et m'aide réellement à élever le haut de mon corps de mes jambes pour méditer. Je l'apprécie, mais ma seule inquiétude est le sac à l'intérieur. En effet, en ouvrant le coussin, on peut sentir une odeur acidique (peut-être le sarrasin, mais ça ressemble plus à celle de produits pour teindre le tissu) et la housse qui recouvre le sarrasin est cousu très vite. J'ai peur qu'on jour je m’assois dessus et que ce dernier s'ouvre à l'intérieur sans que je le sache. Il y a une fermeture éclair dessus, mais elle peut ne pas être vis-à-vis celle du tissu extérieur. J'ai personnellement du sortir la housse de sarrasin et la replacer pour avoir un accès immédiat au billes intérieures.

I am very impressed with this meditation cushion. It’s firm & comfortable and holds me very well. It’s a nice green like in the photo even if the description says grey. I’m still not sure how to place my legs as I’m not that flexible yet but I’ve been referring to many websites for instructions on that. It’s not heavy and has a nice little carrying handle on the side. The material is quite thick and looks durable.
