Chauvet DJ Hurricane Haze 1DX

I am a multimedia director for a church. So looking to give the lighting a different look I decided to buy it. Since the stage is quite large and the ceiling is very high, at first I doubted that one unit of this product would not be enough and bought two. But the truth is that I had more than enough. Even with just one unit I felt that the effect was already quite noticeable. Using both units at the same time I had to put it on the lowest level as it filled the entire stage. It was very easy to use. The product does not include a controller. But you don't really need it because you can adjust the amount according to the space and time of use. As for the noise, I could say that it is not that loud. But if you have to record an interview, noise may enter the microphone if it is too close to the character. I think in the future they should add an optional use hose so it can be used away from the character. In my case this is not a problem. After depositing the liquid and connecting it, it will take about 15 minutes before it is ready to emit the haze. I am quite satisfied with the result. These machines have become part of my essential tools on every shoot. MY advice is that you should read the user manual to avoid misuse and damage.

What can I say about this machine other than after having it for gosh 5 years that it works very well. It has given me no trouble you know so long as you're using high quality haze fluid in it and making sure that you're using actual haze fluid you will have no problems. It's fast to get up and running. It puts out a good amount of haze. You know, for as much as it costs, it's a really good deal. I also like how small it is. You can hide it in a corner of a room and it's not going to stick out at all. With no weird power requirements, you can also put it anywhere. I wouldn't skip out on this. I don't understand all the other people having issues, but mine has been going great.

We've had this almost a year and have used it once a month for 5 hour events. I was worried it wouldn't be strong enough when we moved to a larger venue but it was fine - more than enough to make the lights look great. I suggest putting a small fan behind it to speed up distribution, especially in a larger venue. (don't put the fan in front as it will get gunked up with haze juice and die). 5 hours of moderate to high usage only uses maybe 2/3 of the tank so no need to bring extra to the venue with us. We use Froggy's Beam Splitter haze fluid and a gallon lasts us several months. Maintenance tips: I noticed recently that it seemed to be "leaking" in the back. The real problem, though, was that the sponge at the exhaust vent was soaked with haze fluid after 5 hours of use and was gradually leaking back into the machine. So from a maintenance standpoint you should remove that sponge after each use, then rinse it a few times with water and let it dry before replacing it. The spot it fits in can just be dried with a paper towel. Wish I'd realized this sooner as it would have been healthier for the machine and avoided the minor rust I am seeing now. One last thing - love the size of this thing. It's actually smaller than most fog machines so the output is really impressive.

The haze it produces is nice for a small venue and although it's continuously, it cuts off after a while. Grate for a small venue but do not expect it to work as a real hazer which it's not not.

I only use it 3 times, and all the 3 times was for short amount of time, because I was just testing it for a music video that i had to shoot, and it stopped working, only the fan turn on, no haze, leave for hours still do the same, I saw the others reviews, I see it is now only mine, if you was thinking on buying one don't buy it you will regret.

I own 2 of these! For over 2 years they get the job done every weekend. They are work horses! Small rooms i use one…… for medium i bring the second one, they create great atmosphere for stage lighting.

Love this little box. I use it instead of a fog machine to put out a finer haze for lightning effects. Easily puts out enough haze to quickly cover a couple thousand square feet. One thing to mention is that it only has three fog levels when using manual controls. When using DMX it is infinatly adjustable fro 11-255. Remember to order the Fog Machine Cleaner as after many hours it will need a cleaning or you should expect issues.

I just don't understand why companies make low-quality products for their "consumer" lineups. Unfortunately, this product is expensive, poorly built, and poorly designed. I purchased this unit as an addition to my mobile DJ setup. I was debating on buying a much more expensive ($1000) touring grade haze machine, but I figured I would give this product a try as CHAUVET has a good reputation with their professional lineup. Unfortunately, that reputation does not extend to their consumer lineup. Everything about the device was cheaply made. It started leaking everywhere almost immediately. The fan has no speed control (even via DMX) and is therefore always on (and always loud). The noise level was unacceptable in my opinion and many of the parts were plastic. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this product for the price CHAUVET is asking. Try looking at touring-level haze machines that will actually last more than one use.

With 3 settings this thing is brilliant. It fills the room and makes the lights look amazing
