No. The removable metal pan gets hot enough to crisp/burn food if left on too long

No need to add water, we put the food we want to heat it up directly in the stainless steel tray, it heats an entire lunch in about 25-30 minutes.

Q: What is happening with a steam while cooking? Old version has a small vent on the top for steam to escape, is there any on new version?

Yes, the new version is on the built-in sealing cap.

Q: Can I purchase additional stainless steel containers and lids so I dont need to wash them daily?

I don’t know the answer to your question but I use a small piece of foil in the bottom of my container and so that it folds over just a little bit over the sides and then add the food , the lid fits nice and snug. Makes cleaning the container really easy. Dump the foil in the trash and wash and refill and put in the fridge and it’s ready to go in the morning in the plastic container!
