desertcart.com: What a Woman Must Do: 9781571311139: Sullivan, Faith: Books Review: A Good Read - This Faith Sullivan book is about Harvester Minnesota, as were "The Cape Ann", "The Empress of One", and "Gardenias", however it was not about the same characters. This is a satisfying and tale about three women family members, each at a different stage in life. This book is not as long as the other three, but was just as enjoyable. I loved the ending. Review: An easy read. - An easy read. Kept my interest, but I wasn't "engrossed". A pleasant read before bed. desertcart requires too many words.

This is not one of Faith Sullivans better books. It continues the saga in Harvester
This is not one of Faith Sullivans better books. It continues the saga in Harvester, but the characters do not fit well into the previous individuals who we are familiar with in her other books. Disappointed!

lyrical and well-shaped
This novel transports to another time and place, but as if for the purpose of answering questions about where we came from and how and why. Faith Sullivan writes about the lives of women like no one else. This novel, with its sure and lyrical prose, and plot like an arrow, delivers on suspense and surprise, and insight into what it means to be a woman, and what a woman must do.

Not my favorite.
I've read several of Faith Sullivan's books, but this one I read to get it done rather than because I really enjoyed it.

A realistic step back into the 50's
I greatly enjoyed reading What A Woman Must Do from the start. Faith Sullivan paints a realistic and nostalgic picture of small town life in the 50's, creating three generations of believable yet flawed characters. Sullivan's language is lyrical and enticing, and she wove the stories of these three women together artfully. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop.

I enjoyed the book very much. This is my first reading of a book by Faith Sullivan and I will read more by her. The condition of the used book was excellent.
