Works great on my Lifetime kayak
Mounted this on one end of a 4 ft 1" aluminum pole, put a steering triangle on the other end for a front steering kayak rudder.

Good Rudder
It looks like I got an open box...Overall looks solid. Photo of rudder and 30lb trolling motor. Tested on ocean and lakes and definitely works because I used it to ride the currents & waves and it steered my 10 foot kayak with the trolling motor turned off.

Helped stabilize my boat.
Sea eagle catamaran that had tracking issues, constantly had to correct the trolling motor to stay straight. This helped a lot. Was easy to install, and is made from strong plastic, brass nut-serts, and stainless screws. Has held up to some logs and rocks. Glad I tried it.

An absolute must have
I have been using this with different trolling motors for about 1 year, and never gave it too much thought. Tonight I used a different motor than usual on an 11 ft zodiac inflatable. It was a very frustrating fishing evening. The boat wouldn't track right, would spin weirdly, no sense of finesse while covering the shoreline, just like a leaf on a lake. Just couldn't get it to go where I wanted it, and on calm lake. When I got back to the ramp, I realized I forgot to transfer the rudder from the other trolling motor to the one I used toight. The difference was night and day. Without the rudder the boat was very hard to control and to keep where I wanted it. This showed how efficient that rudder is.
