I decided to get the whole set and read them all for myself. First and foremost, I personally believe these books are marketed towards children because the series starts out when Anne was a child, but the next book has her as an older teenager, college student and finally wife and mother. The series as it goes on takes you through the life of her children and then ends at the very end of WW1. I believe these books are geared towards children because there is sex and no violence, just children being children and humor and quirky adult characters through the whole book. It's perfect for adults as well, or as adults to read to children, or children to read themselves. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tales of Anne's Home Town... *by H***E on Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2011* "Chronicles of Avonlea" is sometimes counted as one of author Lucy Maud Montgomery's "Anne of Green Gables" books. "Chronicles" is actually an excellent collection of her short stories, set in and around the fictional village of Avonlea in Prince Edward Island, Canada.There was a long interval between the first two Anne books, 1908's "Anne of Green Gables" and 1909's "Anne of Avonlea", and the third novel, 1915's "Anne of the Island." Montgomery was busy with other writing projects but the demand for more "Anne" became overwhelming. In 1911, Montgomery selected twelve of her short stories and carefully edited them to work in mentions of Anne Shirley, the Cuthberts, Diana Barry, and other "Anne" characters. The results are stories that stand on their own but add a little context to the world of the beloved Anne of Green Gables.Anne Shirley actually has an active part in two of the stories, "The Hurrying of Ludovic" and "The Courting of Prissy Strong." One involves the sly motivating of a reluctant suitor, while the other is a clever plot to overcome resistance to a marriage. Among the best of the stories are "Old Lady Lloyd", in which a poor but proud old woman finds that life still has love to offer; and "The Quarantine at Alexander Abraham's", in which a man-hater and a woman-hater are forced to share a house, with hilarious consequences."Chronicles of Avonlea" is very highly recommended to fans of Lucy Maud Montgomery, who can enjoy these short stories while hunting for the references to Anne Shirley. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five stars for these books, but 4 for some typos and skipped pages *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2021* You can't go wrong with an Anne of Green Gables collection. This is a great price for all the books but I noticed that it skipped ahead around 10 pages in one of the books and there have been some typos.
