No, the t shirt does not show under a dress shirt.

How thick is the fabric? Prefer a thicker, coarser cotton.

It’s a medium thick fabric more so on the lighter side of the medium thickness spectrum, not thick or coarse at all. But it does hold its thickeness after washing and air drying. I don’t recommend tumble drying.

What size Tees do you normally wear? They fit true to size. I'm 6'2 and 230 so XL for me. You sound like a Large but with a 44 chest maybe an XL...it depends on what's comfortable for you. I can tell you these feel great and come well packaged and I'll ordering another package.
