What's the seat depth (from front of the back cushion to front of the seat cushion) and seat height?

sitting depth about 21", seat height about 17" cushions have a lot of give to them (soft)

Can the cushion covers be removed so that I can machine wash?

no. I use a sofa cover, which covers the main body of the sofa as well as the seat cushions, but I leave the side armrest cushions and the back cushions out, so that the cover fits better on the sofa.. this is the slipcover I got: "Modern Velvet Plush Strapless Slipcover. Are the seat cushions removable?

Not the bottom cushions just the back and sides.

What is the upholstery material water and stain resistant?

It’s not unfortunately. I didn’t know that prior to purchasing it. However it’s still a great quality sofa. I bought a couch/sofa cover in a cream color. I only cover the seating part. The side cover and back end of the cover i hide behind the cushions.
