Worth trying - less fat and vegan
I love Proper’s lentil chips so I was looking forward to trying their potato crisps and these flame grilled steak crisps got mixed reviews from my family. They’re almost £2 per bag, priced at £15.70 (at the time of review) for 8 bags, which seems to be the going rate for a 100g bag of crisps these days. They’re made with 30% less fat which gives them a drier texture but feels a little chalky after a while. There’s 472 calories in the whole bag so it’s definitely a pack to share with a few people. It’s many years since I ate beef but I think the flavour is recognisable. The flavour is made with plants not meat so they’re vegan-friendly. The crisps are ridged so some collect more flavour powder than others, however, I found the flavour to be a little too light overall.Although I wasn’t exactly disappointed, I was a little underwhelmed by them. I thought they were ok but nothing special. Conversely, my parents loved them. So, I think how much you enjoy them definitely depends on your taste/texture preference. They’re definitely worth trying.
