Motown D.I. WB-3
R**D
If 60s sound is what you're trying to get then this will aid your quest for tone.
I finally got this last piece of my motown set up. It does what it should and does it well. That being said, is it what you want? This warms up the tone, enhances the lows, cuts some raspy highs and gives that old classic 60's sound. If that's not the sound you're working towards this is not the DI for you. That being said if that is your goal and you are learning the ways of Jamerson, Babbit and Duck then this is for you. HOWEVER - this is the SMALLEST piece of that puzzle. #1 piece - You and learning to play like the greats #2 - A good quality P-Bass and play near the neck #3 - Flats! I haven't found any better than Labella 760s for this. #3 - Amps, & you really can't go wrong here with classic Ampeg clean tone amps. Not SVT, Not V2 BA series. You want a B-15 at the best or a Rocket B100R or V1 BA series amps if you can't get a B-15. #4 is this DI. It's the last piece of the puzzle so keep it in perspective. As to price, I've heard this is one of the more expensive DIs out there and has limited capabilities compared to more modern units. But this is designed to do one thing, it does it well and if this is the sound you want then you want this DI. $450ish, consider good P-Bass $1700-2k, B-15 around $4000. Is this DI too much if you've already come this far?
