There was no key for the lock, but then I don't usually lock my guitar cases and I have other keys from the same manufacturer that work on it if I ever wanted to lock it. The other thing is that the accessory compartment is kind of small but what do you expect when the case is designed to be form fitting. No room for my strap but I will figure that out. It fits my 1978 Gibson Firebrand Les Paul well. Wish I could be of better help. **Q: Would this fit a Gibson Explorer ?** A: The Gibson Explorer is not compatible. **Q: Will it fit an Epiphone special sg?** A: I bought it for my Les Paul and it fit it's more suited for Strat style guitars **Q: Will it fit a jackson js3 bass?** A: Yo man,,, I don't think any full scale Bass will fit in this case. I paid $89, which I feel is probably about $20-30 more than it should cost. It offers basic protection. Case weighs next to nothing. The lock is what you would expect. It would keep honest people out. You could open it easily with a bent paper clip. Then again, anyone who wants in that bad would just pop it off with a screwdriver. I tried 3 guitars in it and all fit about the same - loosely. They were Epiphone, LTD and a no-name Les Paul copy. Don't expect a glove fit. Padding is minimal. Throw a couple of old hand towels in the case for strategic placement to avoid your fiddle banging around inside. I doubled one up to lay under the body and another lengthwise over the neck and that secured them nicely.
