We all know how this ends: Lessons about life and living from working with death and dying

Life would be so different if we all read this book.
We All Know How This Ends is a rich and profound resource brought to you by two individuals whose life experience demands to be heard. As I read through the chapters I was astonished at how many layers of learning we can take from this book. I'll be keeping this book close. It's not to be read in one go, but being aware of its contents means that when inevitable life situations challenge me I will be able to reach for it. How to speak to someone who is nearing the end of life, being aware of how complex grief can be and knowing that it normal, having a clear idea that I am allowed to take control of a funeral and how to do so, and understanding that dying is still living. On understanding these things I was saddened that this knowledge was not already a part of our curriculum or conventional wisdoms. Reading this book will change the way you live.

Beautiful, important book
I’ve worked with many patients and families near the end of life and wish there was budget to give this book to everyone. It is packed with factual answers to many of the questions people want to know but never have time or courage to ask in person. It is written in such a tender and kind way with so much respect for the unique ways people approach death and grief. I can’t think of anything I’d like to change or add to it. Perfect for dipping into and reading in short sections when struggling in the fog of shock, anticipation, or in grief. It’s even better to read right through and have in the bank long before you need it. I’m very grateful this book exists.

Are you going to die one day? Will someone you love die one day? Better buy this book then...
An invaluable addition to the canon of end of life writing. Coming at death from two different directions, the advice given is intelligent, fair and easy to digest. The world of palliative care and funerals is, to many, a foreign land, so those who face the reality of approaching death (ALL of us) and those who grieve, need to be empowered. As a funeral professional I feel that you don’t necessarily need a progressive funeral director but you do need to be armed with relevant information and to be prepared well in advance. This book will help with both in a very human, practical (occasionally humorous) and very gentle way.

A beautifully timeless book for every living and dying soul.
Insightful, thoughtful, demystifying and compassionate! I brought this book to give to a friend but ended up reading it myself. This is actually a book I will gift to everyone I love and care about - for I don't know any soul who would not benefit from the knowledge the authors share, both to assist with grief and dying but also in what's important about living.

everyone should read this book
As the title says, we all know how this ends. This book helps to demystify the process of dying and death and gives amazing insights into how that process can be made better for all those involved (which will be all of us at some point!) At turns moving and uplifting, this is a book we should all read.

Everyone should read this book!
Such a beautifully written guide to something we will all have to experience at some stage in our lives. I loved reading this book and feel like it’s going to be a piece I will dip into again and again when necessary. It’s a must read and so interesting!

Has to be for the individual
It’s going to take me a while to read it all after my loss

Not poignant enough
This book is very much needed but it didn’t get to the depths or core of its subject in a way I needed it to. Maybe it’s just me. It’s a very hard subject.

Good for everyone who may be experiencing any stage of grieving
This book was clear, informative, and friendly.I laughed. I cried. I held the book to my chest and looked into the vast expanse of the sky and wondered how someone could know my heart and my pain so intimately without having spoken to me at all.A wonderful addition to any library, I've already bought some copies as gifts for loved ones who've also lost people.Thank you, Louise and Anna, for sharing your stories, insights, and hearts with the rest of us <3

A lot of lists and such
This is probably a great book for when you’re in the thick of things, but i found it to be quite list-heavy. It’s hard for me to retain suggestions when they aren’t applied in a story, so I feel like I would rather keep it as a reference. I’m less than 100 pages in, but I can’t remember much about it since I put it down a week or so ago.
