KastKing WideView Fish Scale, Floating Waterproof Digital Scale

Love this scales . I went through two other scales in a matter of few weeks . Realtree scales got dipped in bait bucket for few sec - done ( wonder why they didn't make fish scales water resistant - beyond me ) Berkley scales - Led doesn't light up ( I do a lot of night fishing) which is a big negative . But then even when sun is really out - you still can't see the number on their tiny LEd . They were useless to me along with their very weird garage opener battery choice. KastKing out shined all of them . Nice led , very comfortable grip . I dropped them in the open lake ystr when I hooked 3 stripers at once . Once I got 2 out of 3 in - I had to chase my scales because they got pretty far out . Which made me realize that bright orange color was a smart choice . But they didn't sink and worked perfectly later when I had to weight the fish . The only thing personally that I would change. The standard grip on the KastKing takes some time getting used to . So I swapped the grip with the Realtree once .

Works great and is pretty compact

So far so good. I have only weight a few fish up to about 12 lbs. I also tested it lifting a range of weights with it always returning accurate values. Hopefully I will have a few bigger fish soon to test higher weights. I also fished a pretty misty rainy day where I left it out on the boat most of the day with no performance issues. It is a bit bigger than some which allows a good grip but makes it a little big for most pockets. I will update the post if anything changes.

There are two key components to this digital scale. The primary digital scale unit, itself and the fish grippers. The digital scale unit is really nice. It has a adequate back light, making the display easy to read, especially in low light conditions. The hand hold is molded in such a way that makes it very comfortable. It uses 3 AA batteries, has a memory and can be set to use lbs, oz, or kg. Being a KastKing product gives confidence in its performance. However, the fish grippers that come with it are cheap plastic trash. I replaced the grippers immediately with ones that will do the job. I really wanted to give this scale 5 stars, but the grippers supplied, forced the 4 stars.

Zero starts not being available, I rated it a 1 star because it was purchased and sat in my fishing box for about a couple of years but upon trying to use it, it would NOT turn on. Changed batteries...nope, still dead. Button's no longer function so while it worked when I first got it, now it's past the warranty and there's nothing I can do? That stinks. I refuse to buy another one so beware.
