I cut the connector end off the 12V 750mA adapter that comes with a modem and spliced it in plugged it in and it works great. It doesn't matter what end is positive and negative. Water stops when power is removed. I purchased this to pair with a water flow meter to start and stop R.O water filler and calculate usage.

I works!
I had originally ordered a valve that looked just like this, but had a different brand name. I got 2 that didn't work. Then I took a chance and ordered one of these. It worked perfectly on the first try. I use it in an aquarium filling system.

works intermittently, unreliable
At 2.4amps, 12v it only open intermittently. If I sit there and strike the wires at about 1hz, it'll open a few times, then it'll do nothing, then it'll continue like that. This is no good. Its wattage claim is accurate.

To be fair I did not test it before I mounted it (I usually just expect things to work like they should)
"You get what you pay for". Apparently an all plastic construction. In my case, after mounting it in my assembly, it leaked when not activated under 20psi water pressure. To be fair I did not test it before I mounted it (I usually just expect things to work like they should). I may have tweaked the plastic casing a bit when I mounted it. But now mounted or unmounted it leaks in the closed state. I would recommend a metal cased solenoid for 2x to 3x the cost for serious applications...

This valve is normally open. But it says in the description it is normally closed.
It works well, but I need a Normally Closed valve. The one I've got was normally open. Can't use. In other review they complain about valve getting hot at 2.5 Amps. 2.5 Amps is too much for this! It is 12V 4.5W - max 0.4A! I tested this valve with 12VDC 1Amp, it got a little hot. That's because too much current!
