**Q: Can this product work on a Nikon Camera?**
A: Yes, it will work, depending on what camera you have.  It comes with a TRRS plug which is required when you want to plug it into a cellphone to record audio. (*Reason being that a microphone requires power to run, and a cellphone jack doesn't give off power.  Since this was designed with cellphone use in mind, they used a TRRS plug that would draw power from your phone to run the mic.*)  However, if you want to plug it into a camera, or another device with an external mic jack, you will need to buy the Rode SC3 adapter.  (*Reason being that devices with a jack for an external microphone do give off power to run that microphone, so the extra function of the TRRS tip is not necessary.*)That Rode SC3 adapter will change the plug from TRRS to TRS, which can then be used with your nikon dslr, or other device with a 3.5mm external microphone jack.

A: This will allow for MUCH better audio quality and will lessen exterior, surrounding noise. The audio is in sync with the video. No special app.If you are interviewing an additional person, you might want to mic them up too with same mic.the following Rode adapter;Rode SC6 Breakout Box for Smartphones and Tablets with Dual TRSS Input and Headphone output by Rode Link: http://amzn.com/B00IEM2NM4allows for the input of 2 mics.This would work great. It inputs the audio as a left and right channel, BUT the video records it a mono mixed.hope this helps.

**Q: What if i don't own a smart phone? what other devices is it compatible with?**
A: If you purchase the R0de SC3 adapter, then it is pretty much compatible with any device that will accept a 1/8" input. For example, a Sennheiser lav belt pack orany other device that requires a passive input.

I bought this for use mainly doing youtube videos etc but also for my own home videos. I also got it to use with the iPad air 2 with garageband, but I ended up downloading an app as I struggled with garageband, first attempt saw me dictating for 10 mins when garageband only recorded 8 secs, anyhow thats another story. This is a very good mic and the clip is very good, and I think that is important as, you can get a lot of shuffle noise on a lapel mic if its brushing against you when you move, I didnt with this. I used the mic whilst driving a car doing a review into a zoom H2N and the sound was pro quality. Strange I saw a warning label for strangulation but there is kevlar in the cord, so its possible this could cut your head off. Yo uhave to be aware this mic is made for iphones or ipad or other devices which have the TRRS input, there are 4 contacts if you plug this straight into a regular device or amp or the H2N it will not work you need the TRRS to TRS converter. Thats why the title says for iphone, the iphone/ipad recognises a 4 pin plug in the headphone socket and sees it as a mic. Its in a nice quality pouch and the converter lead amazon does also fits in there so its ready for any device. Comes with a windsock, and I guess once you put this on its always on, but it picks up voice very well its well worth the money in quality of sound.
