Its true purpose was revealed:My old Insinkerator (waste-disposal machine, bought from this, very amazon) was giving up the ghost. But before it did, finally burst (it was actually the capacitor which blew) with a little smoke, it tormented me by letting out, in unexpected times/moments, electrical surges.The surges would be felt upon touching the kitchen tap (faucet).No electrician was able to find the source of the surges and so, until the Insinkerator's capacitor had its one and final burst, from the fear of electrocution, we abandoned the kitchen faucet and kept using the bath tap instead. Which we weren't sure, whether it was safe to use. Until the Insinkerator-damade revealed itself, we would suspect anything. So we put this thing as a cover on the bath tap, rather as an insulator, and it fit wonderfully (I should post a pic).Finally: Problem solved (Insinkerater disposed), the silicon-item remain on the bath-tap.
