Great value for money and very useful
This has been an excellent purchase. Some of the best money I have spent on a kitchen gadget. I haven't used a deep fryer for years but have been experimenting with some new gluten free vegetarian recipes including making my own falafel and lots of the recipes call for them to be deep fried. Reading the Amazon reviews helped me to realise that this would probably be a very handy item to save oven time and a healthy alternative to deep frying. It has proved to be just that. It heats up in three minutes and is ready to use. I've found it really useful for cooking any kind of oven chips/sweet potato fries, or making your own; you can heat up/cook things like hash browns for breakfast, Yorkshire puddings and I have used it to cook perfect fillet steak as well as the above mentioned falafel! I have also made small portions of things like Shepherds Pie and it is very easy to cook these in the air fryer and quicker than my fan oven. I haven't had chance yet to make muffins or scones as other reviewers have done. The instructions are pretty straightforward, the "fryer" is very easy to use and to clean after use and doesn't take up a massive amount of space in my kitchen. It stays cool on the outside when cooking but the tray containing the basket is obviously very hot when you take it out. Duronic provide a handy mat to put it on to save your kitchen worktops or you can just use a metal trivet. The fryer can be used for many more things than are contained in the little recipe book, but that does give you some ideas. I think it was great value for money compared to other similar items and am very happy with it. I've hardly used my oven since I owned this fryer. It arrived very quickly too with great communication from Duronic.

Brilliant should have bought this instead of a deep fat fryer
I ordered this product after dropping my small deep fat fryer on the floor full of oil. The thought of clearing that mess up again made me decide to start over again with an air fryer even thought I was not very impressed by the last one that I owned. This is by far the best air fryer that I’ve used. It’s compact and looks slightly Retro. I’ve only had this product for a few days and I’m so impressed with the results so far that I have ordered the accessories. All oven cooked frozen products were fine if not better than the standard oven. (Frozen was all I had to try when the fryer arrived). A fresh marinated chicken breast cooked beautifully using the same temperature as a standard oven. Towards the end of cooking I added some cherry tomatoes and mushrooms that had been tossed in oil. I think I will always cook my mushrooms this way as they were delicious. It is a versatile fryer/oven especially useful to cook meals for one or two, but if you are doing chips it will cater for more. The fryer is very easy to clean the pan and the basket are easily taken apart to wash. I have also left the basket to soak in the pan by just covering the mesh with water and washing up liquid. A quick soak wiped away more stubborn marks. Being able to alter the temperature does give the versatility of a standard oven but the cooking is much quicker and easier.

Very useful piece of kit.
This is a fairly compact machine, extremely easy to use, basically just turn the timer at the front to the right and it starts. The recipe book, is very straightforward and I used it as a guide. Only used a few times so far, but mostly good. The French fries were OK, but not the crisps, which were a bit limp still, I did roast potatoes last night which were perfect I love roast potatoes but don't like to use a lot of fat, so they tend to stick and disintegrate conventionally, just coated them with a little olive oil seasoning, and they were done in 20 mins.I've also used it to cook sausages, they cooked fairly quickly, brown all the way around, no splattering in a pan or grill, turned out lovely. Reasonably compact, I found room for it quite quickly in my small kitchen. There isn't a huge amount of cooking space, about the size of a small chip pan, enough to cook part of a meal for 2-4 people and 2-3 items for 1 person. The inside is easy to clean, the basket can go inside the washing up bowl to soak. I haven't tried immersing the drawer yet, just wipe out the grease with a paper towel then fill with hot soapy waterand it cleans brilliantly. It is very sleek and pretty to look at. It loses a star because the timer looks a bit gaudy and plasticky, but overall just for the few things I've done so far I'm very happy with it.Ps forgot to say it has a temperature setter also, I've had it at the same temp since I got it so forgot !

Just the ticket
There are many air fryers on the market each claiming they are unique. And for that they charge a hefty premium. But an air fryer is simply a heating element and high velocity air circulation. That's it. Not that complex. So think carefully before shelling out hundreds for small extras like paddles which really don't make much of a difference. The Duronic is fairly priced and looks great. It does the job perfectly and has a timer which shuts off the fryer when the cycle completes (unlike apparently the much more expensive Tefal Actifry). It has a large basket, a heat mat (brilliant idea), easy to wash, does not smell or smoke while cooking and looks very nice and reasonably sturdy. What's not to like? At this price you'd be mad to buy more expensive models with useless bells and whistles. Chips were fantastic. Well cooked, nicely browned. Maybe a bit dry but with only half a tablespoon of oil what do you expect? If you like it a bit greasier or moist add more oil or don't dry off the potatoes before putting them in the air fryer. It really is a very useful appliance.Update - having had this for a few weeks now, I note I am unable to get the chips very crispy even though I've cut batches quite thinly. It's not a big problem as I like thick, chunky chip shop style chips which tend to be soft anyway and they come out very well but I wondered how other reviewers managed. To the reviewer who said smoke comes out of the machine, I have never experienced this. The trouble shooting guide in the manual suggests this could happen but only if the fryer hasn't been cleaned properly and so is burning of residue.
