I'm reasonably technically savvy. How much knowledge is needed to set the up to receive normal freesat channels and have you got to download the guide

Hi Mike,  all that glitters  is not gold, the guide is rubbish comparing to sky and freesat guides, you will first need to plug in to your sattelite and scan for channels then arrange in the order you want them and delete ones you don't you will need  either a flash drive  or usb drive to record on you can only record multi channels  when they are on the same transponer   ie,  bbc1  bbc2 bbc3  etc. other than that you can only record  the channel you are watching , if new channels become available you will need to start over and rescan the sattellite again where as sky box and i think the freesat box does it automaticaly. to put it bluntly if i wanted a family sat box for freesat i would go for a dedicated freesat box  with pvr. hope that helps.George

Does it work with internet only, no dish needed? how much is the subscription and where do I top up? does it have wifi?

You will need a dish, depending on where you live and what you want to watch will determine the size of dish required and it has a ethernet port in it this can also be used with a wifi dongle if it's difficult to get an ethernet cable to it. It soes not have wifi without the dongle. Ferguson wifi dongle is supposed to work. as for subs, I'm sure Google can help you on that.

Is it possible to watch one programme and record another programme at the same time onto USB?
