Hi sorry about thisI have tried to carve this wood, it in my view, “It ain’t basswood”. I have pfeil knifes really good sharp knifes.bought from AmazonGo on line, put in Youtube basswood Carving watch the USA Men women carving basswoodThis wood is to hard, I have bought all the basswood from Amazon sellers and knifes, gouges, all very sharp and great, but still can’t cut or craft like they do on YouTube .All forums say we can’t get basswood the proper basswood, we get linden and other woods. It isn’t basswood that the Americans show on you tube ,, you try to buy it you can’t,, The U.S.A. sellers are not interested In shipping to the UKIf you want the proper Basswood it’s North American The southern is a bit harder so I am toldSo please Amazon can you try getting the proper Basswood from the northern USA

I was a little disappointed with the 10pc pack I received because the measurements I saw in the description weren't accurate, I expected at least 2 pcs to be square (same width and depth). But this 10pc is proper basswood at least, i bought from another supplier and I'm pretty sure they've sent pine wood...The pic is my first attempt at wood carving and seemed to turn out OK 😁 Just need to order some more plasters now 🤣

Not sure you can make much with these as the wood is so soft you could carve it easily with a butter knife. But it’s enjoyable just carving it randomly with no design in mind.I guess though you could probably carve chess pieces and make a chess set quite easily if you wanted to. I give it 4 stars though because like I said it’s a bit brittle.

Good for practicing when just starting out, but it does splinter off a bit in places. If you wanted to make something more detailed, I think it would be better with a different wood. Probably more expensive though.

Good quality wood, and the size makes it easy for beginners who want to make small carvings. The shape does limit you to what you can carve i.e. you will need different wood if you are looking to carve more rounded objects. If you are doing detailed work, this wood might be a tad bit flaky. All in all, a great pack for beginners like myself.
