All surfaces must be clean, dry, and dust-free. Remove loose coatings, old sealant, and mastic before applying. Apply nozzle and cut cleanly at an angle of 45 degrees with an opening slightly larger than the gap to be sealed. Use a standard sealant gun. But encouraged by the reviews here, especially over the simplicity and positive results I thought I'd try it myself. I ordered a pack of three: all arrived in one package delivered in good time and no damage. The instructions are on the side of the tube (talking of tube, YouTube will be of some use if - like me - you're still a little unsure about how to apply and finish). I wanted to fill a few gaps between my skirting boards and walls - some gaps were about 4 or 5 mm wide, so I packed them first with some old cardboard. Snipped off the nozzle at 45 degrees, popped it onto my metal gun and starting applying. It's best to put down some masking tape first in case you don't have a steady hand. Also make sure you have a damp rag to hand too, in order to wipe up the excess. Make sure you have a smooth trigger action because if you stop and pause the slump will stool ooze out along your trail. So do a couple of practice runs beforehand. I used a wet finger to smooth down the trail and used the rag to mop up. Once satisfied I slowly removed the masking tape (don't leave this on too long as it may stick to the caulk, and when you do eventually remove the tape there's a good chance you'll take the caulk with it!) Overall I was impressed with the flow and adhesive qualities.It dries after an hour or two, but I would advise waiting a good 12-18 hours to on the safe side if you intend to smooth down or paint over. The gaps I had to fill (between 2 and 5mm) finished really well too. So I have ordered 3 more tubes to finish off some other projects. I've tried cutting, piercing, everything... Can't get it open!!** A: People could be a little less patronising, some of us don't have an much knowledge of /have never before used hardware tools and products as others :) **Q: If need be, can it be sanded?** A: It doesn't really need to be sanded as it has quite a smooth finish. Just squeeze it into the gap and with a slightly damp fingertip, smooth it out. I always have a damp cloth to just wipe off any excess that goes somewhere I don't want so I don't run into the problem of needing to try and sand it. If you have gaps between the skirting board and wall (like some of mine have), it's great for filling these in, but I always make sure after I have run my finger over it to wipe off any excess that may go up the wall a bit so it doesn't leave any sort of ridge. As it has some flexibilty I find that if you try to sand it, it tends to ball up a bit. Hope this is of some help.
