Essential adhesive
I've used this product for more than a decade. It has properties that make it ideal for many hobbyist and DIY tasks, and I love that it is a well-behaved adhesive that doesn't dry up in the syringe, works reliably and is good value. If you're new to Araldite Rapid, it is basically a very strong two-part adhesive (the two parts are mixed with a spatula) that will form a treacle-like liquid that will set in around five minutes. It forms a very good bond to metals, ceramics, glass, and most commonly-encountered plastics, and wood. There was a famous advert where a car was stuck to a signboard using Araldite, with the slogan "It also sticks handles to teapots". **** Syringe: Good or Not? **** The two parts of Araldite Rapid are also available in individual tubes (like toothpaste tubes). Avoid that if possible, because this syringe is way better. The toothpaste tube method is messy, you can't use all of it without a lot of squeezing, and also it's harder to get the quantities correct (1:1 proportion is needed). With the syringe, I can squeeze out a near-similar amount of both parts, provided I push the syringe in as square as possible. A small amount will continue to egress even after you've stopped pushing on the syringe, but the trick to resolving that is to pull ever so slightly back on the syringe. In summary I like the syringe method, it works well. **** Mixing It **** The syringe comes with a spatula attached to the side. But one spatula isn't enough. Personally I like using wood barbeque skewers. A pack of 100 or so costs next to nothing, and last for ages. I snap a skewer in half, and use it to do the mixing and applying. You can trim the skewer to the perfect shape for your application (e.g. flat on one side if you break it appropriately and use scissors to make the end of it straight). You need to mix it very thoroughly (mix for at least 30 seconds, depending on your technique), and then you have a minute or so to apply it. **** Applying it **** With the spatula, it is easy to apply the glue. It isn't overly runny, but you may need to gently rotate your object for a minute or so to keep the glue in the area you require it. Think of the thickness of honey or treacle - it is similar to the thickness of this adhesive initially, but it will fairly rapidly thicken - you need to apply it prior to it thickening, so really there is only a 60-90 second window to apply it, if you've spent 30 seconds mixing it. Fortunately with the syringes, there is little waste, you can mix a tiny amount (although then you need to take more care to ensure that the proportions were 1:1 of the two parts), apply it, and then when it hardens, mix some more for any other areas where it needs applying, or to apply more to a joint. It is good to consider beforehand how you will hold the pieces together for about five minutes while it sets. Sometimes I'll just hold the parts, since five minutes isn't long. But don't underestimate the benefits of Blu-Tack, and sticky tape for this purpose : ) **** Tips and Tricks **** Like many adhesives, you can sometimes make a stronger bond by manipulating the surfaces beforehand. Sanding a surface will provide more surface-area for the glue to stick onto. I like using a craft knife and scoring the surface in a hatch pattern, it gives the glue some micro-trenches to dig into : ) It is surprising what a difference this can make. Araldite works really well with ABS plastic and acrylic, especially with the scoring method. I also use this method with aluminium, since it is easy to score that with a craft knife too. PVC works ok-ish. Araldite is good for tacking on PVC wires onto a circuit board. If Araldite gets on your hands, soap seems to clear it off reasonably well (use kitchen towel to wipe off as much of it as possible before and after using soap). Araldite is great for filling gaps, since it thickens rapidly. You may need to rotate the object by hand while it sets, to keep it in the correct place. It's not too difficult. **** Summary **** Araldite Rapid is excellent for many tasks, I consider it one of the core adhesives to keep around the home. Really no home should be without these three: Araldite Rapid, and impact adhesive (like UHU) and a cyanoacrylate 'superglue' (e.g. Loctite). With these three, you're set for a wide range of tasks.

Fast setting, sticky epoxy resin
Great product from a well known and trusted brand. Been using Araldite throughout my whole life as an electrician. It doesn’t disappoint when used correctly. The rapid setting version of the original product requires the work surfaces to be bonded to be prepared beforehand as there is little time to faff about once the two components are mixed. Temperature does affect the setting time, warmer temperatures result in faster setting and less work/adjustment time. Highly recommended.

Glue good, applicator nozzles no use.
The glue seems to work but it is impossible to push it through the nozzles provided. I just took off the safety cap and pushed the plungers making a small amount of glue which just needed a little bit of stirring. I would assume that if you did use the nozzle it would be one off use as there is no way to clean them out after use.

Brilliant for sticking hard plastic
Worth keeping this on standby. My careless husband dropped my Magimix on the floor off a unit. Fortunately its still going since its the heavy metal old 2800! But he broke the catch off the lid, a chunk out of the pusher and a piece off the base plate. I was not happy. So I sat down with the Araldite, a piece of cardboard and a wooden skewer. I also had on hand some superglue. I used the superglue for positioning since tape was going to prove difficult. And I then carefully glued and positioned the pieces with the Araldite . After 10 minutes I pushed them harder together. After 2 hour I carefully cut away the surplus with a scalpel. I then left the things for 24 hours. Perfect repair and waterproof. I also glued the sole back on my summer sandles after a washing machine chew up. It really is good glue for plastic, glass and porcelain and doesn't smell bad like cheap epoxy resin which stinks of urine!! As long as the substances stay apart the glue stays fresh. Thoroughly recommend. Adults only on using this glue, it's not pva!!

Hard to beat this
Brilliant. Used araldite years ago. I forgot how good it was. I bought this to fix my son’s pedal box( part of a steering wheel set up for his computer). The plastic pedal snapped, and is also spring loaded. However it snapped in such a way that it could be fixed with a decent glue. Been about 18 months now and still good. I’ve used it to fix loads of other things too. And still not used half of it yet. It comes in a two part syringe. You put out what you want onto a piece of card or something and mix. When done you put the little cap on to use again. You think that the cap will become stuck on but it comes off pretty easy the next time you use it. Well worth having this about. It’s paid for itself 10 times over on what I’ve fixed and not had to replace

Ottima per riparare oggetti di plastica . Vanno prima carteggiati e puliti con alcool . I due composti devono essere amalgamati almeno per 20 secondi prima dell’uso .
