No it works the same either way round.

I too have a Economy 7 meter and can`t get a signal with one jack plug , why did you need 2 and did you put the transmitters on the same Live lead?

In your meter box you should have 2 live cables coming from the isolator switch into your meter. One is the day time feed the other is the economy 7. I have a jack plug that clips round each of these that both plug into the transmitter. Hence at night when then current in switches from one live to the other it is monitored too.

No, you get one with the power meter, that wasn't obvious in the write-up so I ordered a separate one.
