Maneki Neko: The Tale of the Beckoning Cat

Books arrived with no flaws. Stories are sweet, tender and touching even more so for me because I love cats and have two Himalayans. The illustrations are beautiful, simple, soft and expressive. Now I understand all about Maneki Neko, three cats of which I have in my home. All three books have pretty covers. Would recommend these books to Maneki Neko fans.

We found this charming story in my daughter’s school library and had tobuy a copy for home. Children (and adults) enjoy the story but the true fun is in watching their eyes light up on the last page when they realize the connection to the lucky cats seen in so many shop windows.

The pictures are indeed lovely but is not for an older child. Nevertheless, I decided to keep the book because it was so pretty. Actually, the story is a bit of a farce and not true, about a monk, when the real Maneki Neko was owned by a poor woman. )sigh( more women's history erased.

This book was very sweet. It is the retelling of the Beconing Cat, a Japanese folk tale. When a poor monk's cat washes her face, it looks like she is beconing you. When her washing saves the life of a noble man, her and her monks fortunes change. The illustrations are beautiful. I recommend this book.

This is a nicely done rendering of the Japanese "lucky cat" story. Text and pictures portray the kid-friendly version of the legend with the nobleman, temple priest, and his cat. For cat fans, what's not to like?

I thought it might be a cute gift to my granddaughter's first grade teacher along with the solar power motion toy - Luck Cat.after receiving their Flat Stanley and taking him to Little Toyko. The book has very nice art work and a few new words for her students.

This is a really nice book. A perfect tale for kids. A good book to add to your collection if you are an adult with Japanese Lucky Cats. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is very sweet. This book reads like a children's book.

I really love this books! It’s so so cute 😍 It’s a lovely story, one I’ve read many times! I love the Maneki Neko and reading about Tama Sama makes me so happy! 😍
