Are these suitable for clearing blockages of outdoor drains (main ones under manhole cover)?

Just used them for first time bit concerned that they might snap in pipe but followed advice from a few answers on here made sure tight when screwed on used worm first got about 5 metres inside pipe by slowly pushing and pulling and twisting clockwise about 12 inches at at time and retrieving remember to turn clockwise when pulling rods out to check all connections tight like I said got about 5 metres in and felt hard resistance so prodded slightly bit further  the water slowly dropped so pulled rods out and the water raised again then I attached the rubber disc to one rod only and put into the entrance of pipe about 6 inches and pushed forwards and backwards building pressure/vacuum.then heard the glug,glug and the waste water disappeared, beware the smell is horrid but the relief of knowing you can use loo again is fantastic. Overall took about 20 minutes.Money well spent remember take your time would recommend 5stars.

Do the rods bend easily?

Note: the model 5431 requires constant turning to prevent links unscrewing in the pipe. The 5503 set is lockable and so a little more expensive.

Question 3

I have a 70+ degree bend to get into the pipe inside the inspection chamber, then after 50cm, a 45-degree bend going underground. Will these work? Thx

I have just purchased a set of these and they will work fine at 45 degrees  but 70 + may give you problems, even if you can push around the bend you could find they will jam when you try to pull back. I also found that the joints tend to unscrew themselves unless you keep up a clockwise pressure both in and when pulling back out. Apart from that they do the job well  and aregood value for the price.

Are the rod connections screw on, not snap on? Cheers

Standard screw connection compatible with other makes. Just make sure that you turn them constantly clockwise as you push them into the pipe and retrieve them.
