A spindle sander and a belt sander. The best of both worlds and it is safer to use - Brilliant!!
The media could not be loaded. I have been working on a number of small projects in the garage lately. I have made a few Christmas decorations, some shelves and other larger projects such as a bird table. We recently had a fence replaced and I made use of the 4” x 4” posts that were removed, along with reclaimed wood that I had stored previously and off cuts from the new fencing to make it all. I had to cut the wood into strips on my table saw and bandsaw, so it needed a lot of sanding after being processed. For years I have been using a bench mounted belt and disk sander, but I find it very difficult to sand smaller pieces on this and have managed to sand the end of my fingers a little on occasion! Not badly, but in the end I decided that I wanted to find a better solution that gave me more control. After a lot of research I decided to buy this Triton machine. The reason that I picked this one was because Triton have a good reputation, (If you look at reviews, their products are always well liked by the majority of buyers) and I also wanted a machine with a belt sander as well as spindle sander. With this set up you get the best of both worlds. A belt sander for straight edges and spindle sander for curves. The belt sander is great for smaller pieces and that is what I wanted it for. I have way more control with the belt vertical and the table horizontal. As for a spindle sander, I have wanted one of those for years! Please see the video for an in-depth look at it. Also, with a 3 year guarantee you can’t go wrong. This machine feels well made; it comes with 5 spindle sanding sleeves, ½”, ¾”, 1”, 1½” and 2”. There are only 4 rubber drums and this is because the ½” sleeve fits directly onto the spindle without a rubber drum. The other Triton spindle sanders come with a 3” drum. In fact, if you order Triton sanding sleeve sets you will get 6 because the 3” is included. Now, the thicker end of the sanding belt is actually 3” in diameter, so you can use that to some extent, but only on semi circles and a 3” drum would be much more versatile on curves giving full 360 degree access. I decided to buy a Triton 3” rubber drum assuming it would fit the spindle being a Triton spare. Sure enough it fits and I made my own insert to allow me to use the 2" spindle safely. Making this was easy using the sander to fine tune the insert and make it fit. So now I have all of the available spindle sizes. As far as sanding is concerned, it is great, very aggressive with the 80 grit sleeves and belt. Luckily the sander has a dust extraction port and my shop vac fits perfectly. Dust extraction is brilliant, you can see this on the video with hardly any dust being thrown out. There is a space for everything on the sander base and if you are careful about replacing everything once you have finished with it, you will always have everything at hand. The motor is not too noisy, you can clearly hear the shop vac over the top of it in the video and the camera is much nearer the sander. I checked that everything was square to the table and it was spot on.So, I love this machine. I notice that other manufacturers sell identical models and I do not know whether they are different in any way, but the three year guarantee clinched it for me. I am very happy with it and it is a brilliant addition to my workshop.

Good
Found myself ‘needing’ this as I had some wooden knives I needed to fettle and the orbital sander and hand sanding weren’t cutting the mustard. Lots of market research and reading reviews led me to this and I’m very happy it did. Excellent videos online to help, everything fits fine. Table could be better as the two sides are not exactly the same height which cause a catch if I’m not concentrating. What really surprised me was how quickly it takes wood away, brilliant! The long edge is also useful for flattening edges if I don’t want to plane. Very useful tool, light enough to move about but substantial enough not to shake. If you have shapes to sand I would definitely recommend this

Excellent Design, Performs Well
Well I finally decided to pull the trigger on a bobbin (oscillating spindle) sander and with this model being a dual bobbin and belt sander it seemed to be the wise choice for both the money and also to save space in an already cramped workshop.I hope that this machine has the same level of quality as Triton routers but given I have seen this identical machine shape for sale in various places or being used in Youtube videos in several colours and brand names I don't know if it's really a Triton product or just a generic machine with a Triton sticker but I suppose time will tell. On the plus side of this it comes with a three year warranty from Triton so that helps to give some peace of mind. The machine arrived well packaged. Inside the box you of course get the machine but you also get one of each size sanding drums and one sanding belt.... to be honest given the price of the machine to only get one grit type of each smacked a little of penny pinching. There is also the various spindle holders (sorry don't know the right word) and their insert plates to give zero clearance on the machine depending on what spindle size you would be using. Because of the penny pinching with the included belts / spindles and given this isn't exactly a cheap machine I have deducted a star from what otherwise would have been a 5 star review. The machine itself has a decent bit of weight to it to allow the machine to be used without jumping around the bench while not clamped or screwed down but not really what I would call heavy either so can easily be moved around the workshop as required. The machine is actually a really good design and has various holes and cut outs all around it for storage of all the parts so they don't get lost.... although in my workshop it's nearly guaranteed they will get lost in the first month! The table as you can see in the listing image is adjustable should you need to sand something at an angle. It's very easy to change spindle sizes or to change to the belt mode and the change can easily be done in under a minute. It runs very smoothly and given it's only using 450w it has some considerable power to it and will easily throw a workpiece across the workshop if you are not paying attention but that was my fault and not the machines. It works very well and is easy to use immediately out of the box so no learning curve required for the novice. This is my third sanding machine after my 1" belt and a large disc sander so I have brought them all together on their own workbench as a sanding station which is a real luxury to have as for years I had to make do with a cheap and nasty handheld belt sander turned upside down and held in a vice. The sanding belts for this machine being 100mm x 610mm are the standard hand held sized belts so easily available to buy across the UK either on Amazon or from local hardware shops like Screwfix etc so you are not stuck having to buy a propitiatory sized belt at inflated prices. The spindle sanding drums also seem to be fairly standard across all types of these machines so like the belts they can easily be found online but probably not something you could get from the standard local hardware shop.I take my reviews very seriously so once the honeymoon with this machine is over and I start to notice any problems I will most certainly edit this review to reflect that but so far so good and if you are reading this then everything is still good with the machine.
