One thing to note was that I had inadvertently set an ID on my speedlight and the XPro2 commander so they would not initially talk to the X1N-R trigger. There's no setting on the X1N-R for an ID so I unset the ID on the speedlight and commander and all worked perfectly. Entirely my error. The unit is a little bigger than I was expecting but still small. It takes sensibly sized AA batteries and has a hard on/off switch which is extremely useful. Great unit from Godox.
